  • Joe Reed WR | CHI

Joe Reed: Lands on Chargers' practice squad

The Chargers signed Reed to the practice squad Wednesday.

Reed is set to open the regular season on Los Angeles' practice squad for the second straight year after missing out on a spot on the team's 53-man roster this offseason. The 2020 fifth-round pick accumulated 435 kick-return yards over 149 special-teams snaps with the team as a rookie.

  • Chris Conley WR | SF

    Texans' Chris Conley: Rejoins Houston

The Texans re-signed Conley on Thursday.

Conley was released by Houston on Tuesday, but he finds himself back with the team now that further roster spots have been opened up. The experienced veteran has an opportunity for significant snaps behind Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins with the Texans, though Chris Moore, Tyler Johnson and Phillip Dorsett are also around to handle depth work in the team's wideout corps.

  • Jason Moore WR | DET

Jason Moore: Comes back on LAC practice squad

The Chargers signed Moore to the practice squad Wednesday.

Moore couldn't secure a spot on the Chargers' 53-man roster this offseason after playing 14 games during the past three seasons with the team. The 27-year-old wideout, who caught three passes for 56 yards over two elevations last year, will once again work to improve his stock while on the team's practice squad.

  • Jacob Harris WR | TB

Jacob Harris: Joins Rams' practice squad

Los Angeles signed Harris to the practice squad Wednesday, Stu Jackson of the team's official site reports.

Harris is an intriguing developmental prospect, and he will get a chance to continue improving with the Rams. The 2021 fourth-round pick appeared in nine games as a rookie.

  • Cornell Powell WR | PIT

Cornell Powell: Gets another practice squad chance

The Chiefs signed Powell to the practice squad Wednesday.

Powell spent the 2021 season on Kansas City's practice squad, so his position is a familiar one. The second-year pro is still looking for a chance to make his NFL debut.

  • Daurice Fountain: Inks with practice squad

The Chiefs signed Fountain to the practice squad Wednesday.

Fountain appeared in two games with Kansas City last season, though he didn't record a catch. He provides valuable depth in case of emergency as a practice squad player.

  • Kevin Austin: Lands on practice squad

Jacksonville signed Austin to the practice squad Wednesday.

The undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame earned a practice squad slot after putting together a solid preseason. He secured one of three targets for 21 yards in three preseason appearances.

  • Bills' Isaiah McKenzie: Week 1 status TBD

When asked if McKenzie, who left practice early Saturday with an undisclosed injury, would be available for Week 1 action, GM Brandon Beane noted Thursday "we'll see," Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.

The report relays that Beane added that McKenzie figures to push play in the contest, but the wide receiver's status is nonetheless something to monitor leading up the Bills' season opener against the Rams on Sept. 8. If McKenzie ends up limited or out in the contest, Jamison Crowder would be in line to see added reps in the slot for the team alongside top wideouts Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis.

  • Maurice Alexander: Inked to practice squad

The Lions signed Alexander to the practice squad Wednesday, Tim Twentyman of the team's official site reports.

Alexander showed promise in the return game this preseason, and he also logged seven catches for 49 yards while appearing in all three exhibition contests for Detroit. Now, Alexander gets a chance to continue developing with the team.

  • Darrius Shepherd: Winds up on Broncos' practice squad

Shepherd was signed to the Broncos' practice squad Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.

Shepherd originally joined the team in early August as an undrafted free agent out of North Dakota State, but he was subsequently waived. Denver opted to keep the rookie in the organization with a spot on the practice squad, but Shepherd's unlikely to be elevated to the main roster in 2022.
