  • Seahawks' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Two targets in preseason loss

Arcega-Whiteside didn't catch either of his two targets in Thursday's 27-11 preseason loss to the Bears.

Arcega-Whiteside arrived in Seattle after a trade with the Eagles that sent defensive back Ugo Amadi -- whom the Seahawks were planning to cut anyway -- the other way. The 2019 second-round pick had only five days to pick up the playbook before Thursday's preseason clash, so his limited usage was to be expected. While Arcega-Whiteside attempted to convert to tight end in Philadelphia, he'll switch back to wide receiver with his new team. The preseason finale against the Cowboys will be key for his chances of making the team.

  • Patriots' Kristian Wilkerson: Likely out preseason Week 3

Wilkerson (concussion) is not expected to play in Friday's preseason matchup with the Raiders, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports.

Wilkerson suffered a concussion earlier in the week at practice. He will be unable to return until he clears the league's protocols. He is currently a fringe roster candidate and competing for a role to provide depth at receiver for New England.

  • Juwann Winfree WR | HOU

Packers' Juwann Winfree: Leads team in receiving

Winfree was targeted six times and caught three passes for 41 yards in Friday's preseason game against the Saints.

Winfree caught three passes in the Packers' preseason opener and followed that up by leading the team in both receiving yards and targets in the second exhibition contest. With one game remaining in the preseason, Winfree is seemingly seventh on the depth chart at his position, which leaves him right on the cut line.

  • Broncos' Courtland Sutton: Not in uniform Saturday

Sutton and most other starters aren't in uniform for Saturday's preseason game at Buffalo, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.

The list of players not in uniform includes Jerry Jeudy, Javonte Williams, Melvin Gordon and KJ Hamler (knee), while QB Russell Wilson is in uniform but not expected to play. Tight end Albert Okwuegbunam is one of the more notable players suited up for the game, and this could be his second straight week seeing action while most starters are held out. Offensive coordinator Justin Outten recently said Wilson won't play this preseason, so it shouldn't be any surprise if Sutton and Jeudy are held out as well.

  • Patriots' Tyquan Thornton: Diagnosed with collarbone injury

Thornton was diagnosed with a collarbone injury after leaving Friday's preseason game against Carolina, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

It sounds like Thornton is expected to be out for a while, though perhaps not the entire season. The rookie second-round pick was expected to start his career in a depth role.

  • Rams' Austin Trammell: Four catches Friday

Trammell secured four of five targets for 46 yards during Friday's 24-20 preseason loss to the Texans, and he returned two punts for seven yards.

Trammell spent the second straight game as second fiddle to breakout wide receiver Lance McCutcheon, but he produced consistent yardage for both John Wolford and Bryce Perkins in a complimentary role and was more effective than fellow receivers Jacob Harris and Landen Akers, who combined for 45 yards and five catches on 10 targets. While Trammell has put together two respectable performances so far in the preseason, he'll likely have to have a monster performance of his own against the Bengals in the final preseason game to leap over McCutcheon in the conversation for a roster spot.

  • Rams' Lance McCutcheon: Second straight big game

McCutcheon secured five of six targets for 96 yards in Friday's 24-20 loss to the Texans. He also lost a fumble.

McCutcheon continued a breakout preseason with another big day, nearly cracking the century mark in yardage, but on the last play of the game, he couldn't make it out of bounds on a catch-and-run from Bryce Perkins and wound up fumbling to seal the win for the Texans. McCutcheon also showed a good rapport with John Wolford, connecting with him on a pair of lengthy receptions in the first half, and the preseason dynamo has forced himself into the conversation for securing a roster spot with one more chance next Saturday against the Bengals to showcase his talents.

  • Texans' Phillip Dorsett: Impacts Friday's game

Dorsett caught three of three targets for 48 yards in Friday's preseason win over the Rams. He also returned one kickoff for 14 yards.

Dorsett was involved in two of Houston's three touchdown drives. Late in the first half, he hauled in a 32-yard throw while staying in bounds to set up the Texans' first score. He also drew a pass interference penalty, advancing the ball 46 yards, on the game-winning drive. The speedy wideout has a reputation as a deep threat, but Dorsett ran routes on the outside (65 percent) and inside (35 percent) in 2021, per Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle, which could be helpful to an offense that will be without projected slot receiver John Metchie (illness) this season.

  • Texans' Brandin Cooks: Sits out Friday

Cooks did not play in Friday's preseason game against the Rams.

Cooks was idle for a second consecutive preseason game, but this should not be cause for concern. Without Cooks, Nico Collins became the top receiver and showed up with four catches on six targets for 48 yards and an impressive touchdown catch on a 50-50 ball. It's unclear if Cooks will be held out of the third preseason game coming up Thursday against San Francisco, but it would not be a shock if the Texans keep their top offensive threat under wraps instead of exposing him to needless contact.

  • Jacob Harris WR | TB

Rams' Jacob Harris: Four receptions in loss

Harris (groin) brought in four of seven targets for 23 yards in the Rams' 24-20 preseason loss to the Texans on Friday night.

Harris was able to make his preseason debut after missing the exhibition opener against the Chargers due to a groin injury. The second-year receiver is back at his college position after playing nine games at tight end as a rookie in 2021, and his 6-foot-5 frame could make him an intriguing target on the latter half of the depth chart if he sticks on the 53-man roster.
