  • Ben Skowronek WR | PIT

Rams' Ben Skowronek: Working in committee

Skowronek is filling the No. 3 receiver role along with a handful of other players while Van Jefferson is out due to a knee injury, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Skowronek has the most in-game experience out of the glut of receivers sharing time with him, and he has a more robust skill set that matches Jefferson's do-it-all approach to receiving. Skowronek's versatility means he can block and play any of the receiver positions, but he did have a troubling three drops on 20 targets and doesn't have the field-stretching speed fellow committee members Tutu Atwell, Jacob Harris and Brandon Powell possess. Seeing Skowronek in action during the preseason will give fantasy managers a better idea of the type of usage coach Sean McVay will be looking for out of the second-year player.

  • Austin Trammell: Receives tryout with Houston

Trammell (undisclosed) had a tryout with the Texans on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.

Trammell had joined the Falcons in January but was limited in minicamp with the unknown injury. He then was waived June 16 with a non-football injury designation. His appearance at the tryout implies he has returned to full health, and if it doesn't work out with the Texans, he will continue to try to make a team elsewhere.

  • Jalen Reagor WR | MIA

Eagles' Jalen Reagor: Making case for roster spot

Reagor had a strong showing in the Eagles' first full padded practice Tuesday as he fights for a roster spot, Glenn Erby of USA Today reports.

The 2020 first-round pick has been reduced to a fight for a roster spot rather than a starting role after a pair of disappointing seasons to start his career. A trade and a fresh start elsewhere likely provides his best path to fantasy relevance, but if that doesn't occur, he's at least making a good case to serve as the Eagles' fourth or fifth wideout. He caught a long touchdown pass in practice Tuesday between a pair of defenders, but he'll have to keep practicing at a high level to earn a job.

  • Kawaan Baker WR | GB

Saints' Kawaan Baker: Suspended six games

Baker has been suspended six games for violating the league's PED policy, Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network reports.

Baker will be first available to return during the Saints' Week 7 clash against the Cardinals on Thursday Night Football. After being selected 255th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft by New Orleans, Baker spent his rookie season jumping back and forth between the team's active roster and practice squad, where he ultimately appeared in two games on special teams. Given the second-year receiver entered camp fighting for a roster spot, the near future doesn't present a clear path to targets for Baker, as the Saints have Michael Thomas (ankle) back, drafted Chris Olave 11th overall in this year's NFL Draft and signed Jarvis Landry back in May, not to mention Marquez Callaway and Tre-Quan Smith's established rapport in this offense.

  • Tim Patrick WR | NYJ

Broncos' Tim Patrick: Suffers torn ACL

Patrick suffered a torn ACL during Tuesday's practice, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

With Patrick now in line to miss the 2022 season, KJ Hamler -- who's bouncing back from a knee injury of his own -- is a candidate to see added pass-catching opportunities behind Denver's top wideout duo of Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy.

  • Steelers' Diontae Johnson: Still in talks for new contract

GM Omar Khan said Tuesday that the Steelers are in talks with Johnson's representatives.

Johnson has been a "hold-in" through the first week of training camp, joining his teammates on the field but then watching team drills from the side. It seems both sides expect an agreement to be reached before Week 1, though the Steelers haven't exactly been known for their generosity in contract negotiations with top players. Johnson, a 2019 third-round pick, is entering the fourth and final year of his rookie contract.

  • Patriots' Tyquan Thornton: Looks good in training camp

Thornton, who has seen a portion of first-team reps in training camp, "looks like a player on the rise," according to Zack Cox of NESN.com.

The Patriots traded up in April in order to select Thornton in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 50th overall. Though the speedster is competing for targets with experienced pros DeVante Parker, Jakobi Meyers, Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor, the 6-foot-2, 182-pound Baylor product is a player to watch if he's able to parlay his 4.28 speed into a a field-stretching role in the team's offense. Steady volume may not be immediate for Thornton as a rookie, but if injuries end up thinning out New England's wideout corps as the 2022 season rolls along, the soon-to-be 22-year-old could enter the fantasy lineup equation.

  • Marquise Brown WR | PHI

Cardinals' Marquise Brown: No full practice until next week

Brown (hamstring) will be eased back into practice after the Cardinals removed him from the non-football injury list Tuesday, with coach Kliff Kingsbury saying the wideout may not be a full participant until Monday, Bob McManaman of The Arizona Republic reports.

Brown was on the NFI list for the first week of training camp after injuring his hamstring in a training session over the summer. He spent plenty of time on the injury report in three seasons with Baltimore but missed only three of a possible 52 games (including playoffs). The Cardinals don't seem too worried about his current issue, counting on Brown to be ready for Week 1 while fellow wideout DeAndre Hopkins serves the first game of a six-week suspension.

  • Noah Brown WR | LV

Cowboys' Noah Brown: Headed for bigger role

Brown figures to be the next man up at wide receiver after James Washington suffered a fractured foot Monday and will miss 6-to-10 weeks, Rob Phillips of the Cowboys' official website reports.

CeeDee Lamb is the clear top option at wideout, and 2022 third-round pick Jalen Tolbert already was expected to get as much of a workload as he could handle, so Brown is the player on the current roster most likely to see increased snaps and targets with Washington sidelined. The 26-year-old also is the only Dallas receiver other than Lamb who has caught a pass in the NFL in their careers. The Cowboys could sign a veteran free agent such as Will Fuller or Emmanuel Sanders before Week 1, however, keeping Brown in a depth role.

  • Chase Claypool WR | BUF

    Steelers' Chase Claypool: Remains sidelined

Claypool (shoulder) remained sidelined at practice Tuesday, Dale Lolly of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Claypool continues to deal with a shoulder injury, but Lolley notes that it's not considered a serious issue. Claypool thus remains in the day-to-day category. When available, he and Diontae Johnson profile as Pittsburgh's top two wideouts, with rookies George Pickens and Calvin Austin next up on the team's depth chart.
