  • Josh Reynolds WR | NYJ

Titans' Josh Reynolds: Questionable for opener

Reynolds (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Reynolds was limited again Friday after doing the same thing at Thursday's practice. Tennessee is unlikely to get many contributions from wide receivers other than A.J. Brown and Julio Jones, but Reynolds still would benefit from establishing himself as the next man up should one of the two starters suffer an injury.

  • Darius Slayton WR | IND

Giants' Darius Slayton: To be No. 3 WR on Sunday

Slayton will serve as the Giants' No. 3 wide receiver Sunday versus the Broncos with Kenny Golladay (hamstring) cleared to play.

Most of the Giants' receiving corps tended to injuries during Week 1 prep, including WRs Golladay and Kadarius Toney (hamstring) and TEs Evan Engram (calf), Kyle Rudolph (foot) and Kaden Smith (knee). However, all of them but Engram will be available Sunday, ensuring Slayton will be in his customary third receiver role. Through two pro campaigns, Slayton has averaged six targets per game, which has resulted in 98 catches, 1,491 yards and 11 touchdowns in 30 appearances.

  • Curtis Samuel WR | BUF

Football Team's Curtis Samuel: Placed on IR

Samuel (groin) was placed on injured reserve Friday.

The team hopes to have Samuel back when first eligible Week 4, but skepticism is a reasonable response after his delayed return from what was initially said to be a minor groin injury in early June. In any case, Washington will now look to Adam Humphries, Dyami Brown and Cam Sims behind No. 1 receiver Terry McLaurin.

  • Kadarius Toney WR | CLE

Giants' Kadarius Toney: Clear for pro debut

Toney (hamstring) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

The Giants capped Toney's practice reps all week as the rookie worked his way back from a hamstring issue that didn't allow him to suit up during the preseason. But the maintenance has done the trick, and he'll be out there Week 1 versus a tough Denver secondary. With Kenny Golladay (hamstring) also cleared to play, the team will have its top four wide receivers (also, Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton) available for quarterback Daniel Jones on Sunday.

  • Browns' Odell Beckham: No final word until Sunday

Coach Kevin Stefanski said he won't provide official work on Beckham's (knee) availability until the Browns release their inactive list 90 minute before Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff in Kansas City, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.

Beckham and former teammate Saquon Barkley are more or less in the same boat, still waiting for official clearance despite nothing but positive signs in recent weeks. In fact, Beckham seems to have stayed ahead of schedule all along, making it back for June minicamp after tearing an ACL in late October last year. While Beckham officially is listed as questionable, it'll be a huge surprise if he isn't out there Sunday afternoon for a highly anticipated matchup with the back-to-back AFC champs.

  • A.J. Brown WR | NE

Titans' A.J. Brown: Ready for Week 1

Brown (knee) said Friday that he's "good to go" for Sunday's game against Arizona, but he did acknowledge that his practice reps could be managed again next week, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.

Brown told reporters they should ask Titans coach Mike Vrabel if they want to know more about the wideout's practice schedule this season. Between Brown and running mate Julio Jones, the Titans' injury report figures to get a workout this season, even if both guys are piling up snaps, targets and points each Sunday. They get a friendly matchup at home to start the season, albeit on the heels of a summer where Brown, Jones and QB Ryan Tannehill were rarely on the practice field together. The Titans host the Cardinals at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.

  • Steelers' James Washington: Limited Friday, but no injury designation

Though Washington was added to the Steelers' injury report with a finger issue that limited him at practice Friday, he doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's season opener against the Bills, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.

We'll operate under the assumption that Washington's finger issue is minor and won't impact his Week 1 availability. Heading into the season, he profile as Pittsburgh's clear No. 4 wide receiver behind Diontae Johnson, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Chase Claypool, a context that limits Washington's fantasy ceiling out of gate in 2021.

  • Michael Gallup WR | WAS

Cowboys' Michael Gallup: To be out 3-to-5 weeks

Gallup sustained a strained left calf during Thursday's loss at Tampa Bay and will be sidelined 3-to-5 weeks, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Gallup exited in the second half Thursday with what was termed a left ankle issue at the time, but upon further evaluation the nature of the injury has been confirmed. The Cowboys thus won't have the fourth-year wide receiver available again until October, with his recovery ultimately determining when he gets back on the field. In the meantime, Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb should see plenty of volume, while Cedrick Wilson gets a boost in targets as well.

  • Darnell Mooney WR | NYG

Bears' Darnell Mooney: Finishes week with full practce

Mooney (back) upgraded to full practice participation Friday but is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, Mark Grote of 670 The Score reports.

The Bears have eight players listed as questionable, including two who were full practice participants throughout the week and another five who logged FP on Friday. Perhaps they're trying to obscure an actual injury concern, but it's more likely they're just being overly cautious with the NFL's injury-reporting system. Mooney should be fine for the season opener Sunday night in Los Angeles, operating as the No. 2 receiver in a Chicago offense that lacks a clear No. 3. He does get a tough matchup to start the season, though the Rams secondary may not be quite as dominant after losing two starting defensive backs (CB Troy Hill and S John Johnson) in the offseason.

  • Broncos' Courtland Sutton: Showing notable progress

Coach Vic Fangio relayed that Sutton has taken a step forward in recent weeks regarding the rehab of the torn ACL he suffered early in the 2020 season, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.

Sutton's first game action in nearly a year came against the Rams in Denver's preseason finale. In that game, the wideout totaled 27 yards and a touchdown while also proving himself as a favorite target of Teddy Bridgewater. In describing the time since that contest, Fangio said, "I think the last two weeks, he's really turned the corner and he's looking more like himself." If Sutton is at full strength and not showing hesitation following his injury, the fourth-year wide receiver likely will be one of the favorites to lead the team in targets this season along with Jerry Jeudy. The 6-foot-4, 216-pound Sutton has both the size and speed that make him very tough for opposing defenders to cover. Sutton may have convinced the coaching staff that he's ready to start the season strong, and he'll look to prove that on the field when the Broncos visit the Giants in Week 1.
