Colts' Darius Slayton: Linking up with Colts
Slayton agreed to a contract Monday with the Colts, Tom Pelissero of Netflix reports.
Slayton spent his first seven seasons with the Giants before he was cut Sept. 7. He posted a 50-770-4 receiving line across 17 games in 2023 but fell below 600 receiving yards in each of the subsequent two campaigns. The Colts will bring Slayton aboard to bolster their depth at receiver after Alec Pierce was diagnosed with a left heel issue that will sideline him for several weeks. Slayton could thus take on a significant role with his new squad, with Josh Downs, Keenan Allen, Ashton Dulin (ankle), Laquon Treadwell and Deion Burks making up the remainder of Indianapolis' receiving corps.

Darius Slayton: Cut loose by Giants
The Giants released Slayton on Monday, Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reports.
In the wake of Slayton getting cut, New York boasts a receiving corps led by Malik Nabers (knee) and supplemented by Darnell Mooney, Malachi Fields and Odell Beckham. Considering the group is only four deep ahead of Week 1, it wouldn't be a surprise if Monday's move is merely procedural, and Slayton could be back on the Giants' practice squad, from which he would be allowed to get elevated a maximum of three times on game days.

Giants' Darius Slayton: Makes the cut with Giants
Slayton is a member of the Giants' initial 53-man roster in 2026, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports.
Slayton has made the cut ahead of his eighth campaign in New York. The wide receiver caught four of six targets for 58 yards while playing in all three preseason games this year. Slayton had a down year in 2025, recording 37 catches for 538 yards and one touchdown over 14 regular-season contests, all of which were his lowest totals since 2021. The 29-year-old appears to be on track to operate as one of New York's starting receivers on the outside, and he'll look to get back on track in 2026.

Giants' Darius Slayton: Leading receiver in preseason win
Slayton caught four of six targets for 58 yards in Saturday's 26-3 preseason win over the Dolphins.
Slayton paced the team in receiving yards Saturday, showing a nice rapport with backup QB Jameis Winston. Winston connected with Slayton on his first two passes of the game, picking up gains of six and 29 yards. Starting QB Jaxson Dart was rested Saturday and WR Malik Nabers (knee) has yet to be cleared for game action. Slayton is trying to hold off newcomers Calvin Austin, Darnell Mooney, Malachi Fields and Odell Beckham for a starting spot once Nabers returns to claim one of the starting roles on the outside.

Giants' Darius Slayton: Returns healthy for camp
Slayton (core muscle) took part in the first practice of the Giants' training camp Wednesday, Pat Leonard of the NY Daily News reports.
Slayton's return from offseason core muscle surgery was understandably overshadowed by Malik Nabers' presence on the practice field. With Nabers likely absent or limited for at least a few more weeks, the top candidates for first-team reps at WR are Slayton, Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin. The Giants also have third-round pick Malachi Fields and veterans Odell Beckham and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Giants' Darius Slayton: Out until July after core surgery
Slayton (abdomen) recently underwent surgery on a core-muscle injury and will miss spring workouts, but he's expected to be available for training camp in July, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Slayton is expected to face a multi-month recovery timeline, but he would have plenty of time to ramp up ahead of the regular season in September if the veteran wide receiver is indeed cleared by the start of training camp. The Giants lost 2025 target leader Wan'Dale Robinson in free agency but are expected to get top wide receiver Malik Nabers (knee) back in 2026 and bolstered their wide receiver room by signing Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin, in addition to drafting Malachi Fields in the third round, providing competition for Slayton's starting job.

Slayton caught four of nine targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 34-17 win over Dallas.
Slayton was able to reel in at least four passes for the first time since Week 15 and the fifth time overall this season. The wide receiver finished his seventh campaign in New York having caught 37 of 64 targets for 538 yards and one touchdown over 14 regular-season contests. Slayton will enter the offseason as a free agent, and his 14.5 yards per reception this year will likely attract some potential new suitors ahead of the 2026 campaign.
