  • Ja'Marr Chase WR | CIN

Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Drops only target

Chase failed to bring in his only target during the Bengals' 29-26 preseason loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.

Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports Chase couldn't secure a bubble screen from Joe Burrow on the team's first drive, with the ball bouncing right off his hands. It was an extension of a troublesome trend for the rookie first-round pick, who was charged with three drops in preseason Week 2 against Washington and then put in extra pass-catching reps during the practice week. Baby separately reports Burrow publicly proclaims to be unconcerned about Chase's exhibition struggles, adding, "He'll be ready to go Week 1," when asked about his old college teammate. Chase will have a chance to prove his quarterback right when he and the Bengals face the Vikings in the regular-season opener Sunday, Sept. 12.

  • Darius Slayton WR | IND

Giants' Darius Slayton: Questionable to return Sunday

Slayton suffered an ankle or foot injury during Sunday's preseason contest versus the Patriots, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

Slayton had his left foot taped up during the first half of this game but was able to return. Now that he's questionable to get back on the field, though, he likely will end his day with one catch (on two targets) for six yards and one carry for seven yards. Because Slayton is the second key skill player to suffer an injury Sunday -- Evan Engram was ruled out with a calf issue -- the third-year wide receiver isn't a prime candidate to see action again until Week 1 against the Broncos.

  • Patriots' Gunner Olszewski: Will play in preseason finale

Olszewski (undisclosed) will suit up for Sunday's preseason finale against the Giants, Zach Cox of NESN reports.

Olszewski was not seen at the Patriots' joint practice with the Giants on Thursday and did not practice Friday either. It is unclear what caused his absence, but it doesn't appear to be too significant, as the prolific return man has returned to action for the preseason finale.

  • Deebo Samuel WR | SF

49ers' Deebo Samuel: Goes for big gain

Samuel caught one of two targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 34-10 preseason win over the Raiders.

Samuel connected with starter Jimmy Garoppolo for a long strike down the middle on San Francisco's second drive. The team's top wideout now will turn his attention toward the Week 1matchup against the Lions, when teammate Brandon Aiyuk's slight hamstring issue could be worthwhile to monitor in relation to Samuel's stock.

  • Calvin Ridley WR | TEN

Falcons' Calvin Ridley: Chance to play Sunday

Ridley is in uniform ahead of Sunday's preseason contest against the Browns, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.

It's unclear if Ridley will make his exhibition debut, but Matt Ryan and Mike Davis also are dressed, meaning the Falcons may be trotting out their first-team offense for spell in the first half. If so, we may get a peek at rookie tight end Kyle Pitts working in concert with Ridley.

  • Browns' Odell Beckham: Not playing Sunday

Beckham (knee) will remain sidelined for Sunday's preseason game in Atlanta, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Beckham suffered a torn ACL in his left knee Week 7 of last season, but he progressed enough to participate in mandatory minicamp in mid-June. He's slowly but surely ramped it up over the course of training camp, including taking part in team drills at Thursday's practice. That said, Beckham won't make an appearance during exhibition season, aiming to be ready for a Week 1 road matchup with the Chiefs.

  • Simi Fehoko WR | ARI

Cowboys' Simi Fehoko: Preseason ends with whimper

Fehoko caught three of four targets for 21 yards in Sunday's preseason loss to the Jaguars.

With the Cowboys' resting all of their key offensive personnel, Fehoko had a chance to steal the spotlight but wasn't able to do much as the Dallas offense sputtered most of the game. The rookie fifth-round pick out of Stanford seems to be on the outside looking in for a spot in the top five on the wide receiver depth chart, and Fehoko could be headed for the practice squad to begin the season as a result.

  • Jaguars' Laviska Shenault: Gets into end zone Sunday

Shenault caught all three of his targets for 33 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's preseason win over the Cowboys.

With DJ Chark (finger) and Marvin Jones (shoulder) sitting out the preseason finale, Shenault got plenty of work with Trevor Lawrence and hauled in three straight passes from the rookie QB on the final drive for the first-team offense, culminating in a four-yard TD. That chemistry bodes well for the second-year receiver, but Lawrence spread the ball around during his three series and completed 11 (of 12) passes in total while finding six different receiving options, with five of the completions going to tight ends or running backs. Shenault may end up with more competition for those underneath looks than expected during the regular season.

  • Colts' Parris Campbell: Could be set for larger role

Campbell will likely have a larger role with T.Y. Hilton sidelined multiple weeks due to a neck injury, Zak Keefer of The Athletic reports. "I already knew I needed to step up after my last two years ... and now with T.Y. being out, we know as an entire group we need to step up," Campbell said.

Campbell likely will move into the slot role with Zach Pascal playing outside in three-receiver sets, but the receiving corps could be in flux early in the season as Indy also features three tight ends with plus receiving skills. Still, Campbell's 4.31 40-yard dash speed could make him a breakout candidate if he can stay healthy (he's played just nine games the last two seasons).

  • Malik Taylor WR | DET

Packers' Malik Taylor: Produces again in preseason finale

Taylor was targeted six times and caught five passes for 69 yards in Saturday's preseason finale against the Bills.

Taylor produced in each of the Packers' three exhibition contests and finished the preseason with totals of 16 targets, 14 receptions and 185 receiving yards. He is still not a lock to make the cut with five other players at his position guaranteed to do so, but if the Packers elect to keep more than five wideouts and with Devin Funchess no longer on the roster, Taylor looks like the favorite to claim the next spot.
