Chase Claypool WR | BUF
Steelers' Chase Claypool: Misses practice Wednesday
Claypool (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Claypool suffered what's been described as a mild ankle sprain at the end of Tuesday's practice, but the issue isn't expected to keep the wideout sidelined for long. While Claypool may not suit up for Saturday's preseason game against the Lions, his Week 1 status doesn't appear to be in any danger.

Tim Patrick WR | NYJ
Broncos' Tim Patrick: Returns from groin injury
Patrick (groin) returned to practice Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
In and out of practice for the past few weeks, Patrick seems to be falling behind KJ Hamler, who caught two passes for 105 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason opener against Minnesota. The two wide receivers are competing for the No. 3 role, though both are talented enough to earn some snaps from the fourth spot on the depth chart.

Robbie Chosen WR | WAS
Panthers' Robby Anderson: Dealing with sore hammy
Anderson was sidelined during Wednesday's practice with a hamstring injury, Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer reports.
The wideout observed the session in street clothes after suffering the injury late last week. The Panthers held key starters out of their preseason opener, and while many of those players are expected to suit up Saturday against Baltimore, it's possible Anderson won't be one of them. However, head coach Matt Rhule didn't sound worried about Anderson being in line for a long-term absence.

Robbie Chosen WR | WAS
Panthers' Robby Anderson: Misses practice with minor injury
Anderson isn't practicing Wednesday and appears to be dealing with a minor injury, Bill Voth of the Panthers' official site reports.
The wideout reportedly tweaked something in a joint practice with the Colts last Friday. He then missed Sunday's preseason game against the Colts, though he presumably wouldn't have played even if he had been healthy, given that Sam Darnold, DJ Moore and other key starters were held out. In any case, Anderson could also miss Carolina's second preseason game this Sunday against Baltimore, but that wouldn't create much concern about his availability for the regular season. He was present at Wednesday's practice, wearing a helmet but no pads.

Greg Ward WR | IND
Eagles' Greg Ward: Likely to make roster
Ward is likely to make the 53-man roster as the most experienced receiver in camp, Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice reports.
Ward has been on the Eagles' active roster only for the past two seasons, but that is enough to make him their longest-tenured receiver, especially after you factor in his experience on the team's practice squad dating back to 2017. While his 53 catches on 79 targets led the club in 2020, the former college quarterback should take a back seat to DeVonta Smith and Jalen Reagor this season while working out of the slot. The 26-year-old can serve as a backup kick returner as well, adding to his chances of making the squad.
-
Isaiah McKoy WR | IND
Isaiah McKoy: Out of Pittsburgh
McKoy was let go by the Steelers on Tuesday, Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
McKoy was part of a wave of cuts for the Steelers, as they trimmed their roster down to 85 players. The undrafted free agent was one of 11 wideouts on the roster, but he will now look for a new home elsewhere prior to the start of the regular season.

Blake Proehl WR | MIN
Vikings' Blake Proehl: Reverts to IR
Proehl (leg) cleared waivers and reverted to the VIkings' injured reserve Tuesday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Proehl was waived/injured by Minnesota on Monday, and he unsurprisingly went unclaimed on waivers after recently being carted off the practice field. The 22-year-old will miss the rest of the season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team.
-
Brennan Eagles WR | DAL
Brennan Eagles: Cut by Dallas
Eagles was waived by the Cowboys on Tuesday, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Eagles joined Dallas as a UDFA in the spring, and he apparently didn't do enough during the first few weeks of camp to warrant a longer look. The former Longhorn will have to hope to latch on with a new team.
-
Davion Davis WR | WAS
Browns' Davion Davis: Shines in opener
Davis caught four of five targets for a team-high 56 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 23-13 victory over the Jaguars in Preseason Week 1.
Davis made a high-point touchdown catch, leaping over the defender at the end of the first half. He managed to hang onto the ball while falling backwards in the end zone and keeping his feet in bounds. Davis continued his strong stretch of performances with a deep-ball catch at Tuesday's practice, securing the ball as he fell to the ground along the sidelines, Anthony Poisal of the Browns' official site reports. "I think Davion is a great example of a young player who is just going to control the things that he can control," head coach Kevin Stefanski said. The Browns are loaded at wide receiver however, and there's very little chance of Davis making the initial 53-man roster.

Tyler Lockett WR | LV
Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Tending to groin issue
Coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday that Lockett has missed recent practices due to a groin injury, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Any minor health concern to a player of Lockett's stature oftentimes results in teams taking a cautious approach, and the Seahawks are doing exactly that with the seventh-year pro. Due to the investment Seattle made in him this offseason -- he inked a four-year, $69.2 million extension with the team back in March -- he'll likely remain on the sideline until the issue is a thing of the past. As such, Lockett may be in danger of sitting out Saturday's preseason game against the Broncos.
