Vikings' Jalen Nailor: Trending toward playing Week 1

The Vikings have optimism that Nailor (hand) will be able to play against Chicago in Week 1 as long as he doesn't have any setbacks, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Nailor has been dealing with a hand injury since mid-August and played in only one of Minnesota's three preseason contests while missing multiple weeks of practice. Nonetheless, it appears he's more likely than not to suit up Week 1 provided that he doesn't hit any more roadblocks between now and next Sunday. Nailor could take on an increased role early in the campaign with Jordan Addison set to miss the first three weeks while suspended.

  • Marquise Brown WR | PHI

    Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Practicing Sunday

Brown (ankle) is participating in practice Sunday, and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said the wideout "should be fine" for Week 1 despite not playing at all during the exhibition slate, Charles Goldman of AtoZSports.com reports.

Brown continues to be on track to play in Friday's team regular-season opener against the Chargers in Brazil. Of the receiver's lack of participation in preseason games, Reid stated, "He's a veteran guy. If he was younger, I'd be more worried about it, but he's a veteran guy that kind of knows how to go about it. He should be fine. And we've got guys who can kind of rotate in, too." Brown's ability to suit up Week 1 is especially important to Kansas City with Rashee Rice suspended for the first six games of the campaign and Jalen Royals (knee) not expected to play against the Chargers.

  • Jalen Coker WR | CAR

Panthers' Jalen Coker: Beginning season on IR

The Panthers placed Coker (quadriceps) on injured reserve Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

According to Jared Feinberg of ThePanthersWire, Coker suffered the quad injury during practice Thursday. He'll need to miss at least the first four games of the regular season, so the earliest date he can play is Sunday, Oct. 5 versus Miami. To fill Coker's spot on the active roster and in the wideout corps. the Panthers signed veteran receiver Hunter Renfrow on Saturday.

  • Hunter Renfrow WR | CAR

Panthers' Hunter Renfrow: Signs with Carolina's active roster

The Panthers signed Renfrow to their 53-man roster Saturday, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.

Renfrow wasn't initially able to make Carolina's 53-man roster, but the team needed to bring in another wideout after trading Adam Thielen to Minnesota on Thursday. Renfrow didn't play at all in 2024, so it could be interesting to see how the year off affects his play on the field early in 2025. Renfrow brings plenty of veteran experience to a Panthers offense that will feature rookie Tetairoa McMillan (hamstring) and second-year players Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker as its likely top three wideouts, though Coker is slated to miss at least the first four games of the campaign while on IR due to a quad injury.

  • Ryan Flournoy WR | DAL

Ryan Flournoy: Back with Dallas on practice squad

The Cowboys have signed Flournoy to their practice squad, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

Flournoy was unable to make the Cowboys' initial 53-man roster, but he cleared waivers and will remain in the Dallas organization as wideout depth. The 2024 sixth-round draft pick got into 11 regular-season games with the Cowboys as a rookie last year, tallying 10 catches on 14 targets for 102 yards.

  • Adam Thielen WR | PIT

Vikings' Adam Thielen: Revises deal to clear cap space

Thielen and the Vikings have agreed to a revised contract that reduces his salary by $2 million and removes $4 million in incentives, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Per Pelissero, Thielen volunteered to take less money in order to help the Vikings clear cap space and improve their chances of competing. It's another indication that Thielen is thrilled to be back in Minnesota after two campaigns with Carolina. The Panthers dealt Thielen to the Vikings on Thursday, and the veteran wideout's presence should help Minnesota absorb the early-season suspension of Jordan Addison, who won't be available until Week 4.

  • Terrace Marshall: Let go from practice squad

The Eagles cut Marshall from the practice squad Friday.

Marshall was slated to stick around in Philadelphia after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but the 2021 second-round pick has been removed from the team's practice squad to make room for running back Audric Estime. Marshall will explore his next options and look to catch on with a team's practice squad as a depth wide receiver.

  • Giants' Gunner Olszewski: Back with Giants

The Giants signed Olszewski to a contract Friday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.

Olszewski is back with Big Blue after initially being released by the Giants on Wednesday. He hasn't caught a pass in a regular-season game since 2022 with the Steelers, but he's expected to serve as the primary punt returner for the Giants in the upcoming season.

  • Dorian Singer WR | JAC

Dorian Singer: Cut from Jags' practice squad

The Jaguars cut Singer from the practice squad Friday.

Singer's removal makes room on the Jags' practice squad roster for Austin Trammell, and the former will look to catch on with a team in need of depth at wideout. Singer finished the preseason with seven catches (on eight targets) for 59 yards across three preseason games.

  • Jalen Royals WR | KC

Chiefs' Jalen Royals: Looking unlikely for Week 1

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Friday that Royals (knee) is not expected to suit up against the Chargers in Week 1, Jesse Newell of The Athletic reports.

Royals missed Kansas City's preseason finale due to knee tendinitis and looks set to also sit out the team's regular-season opener, but as the Chiefs didn't place him on IR while cutting down to a 53-man roster, it seems the rookie fourth-round pick is expected to miss less than four games before returning to action. With Rashee Rice (suspension) out the first six weeks of the season, Royals will have an opportunity to push for snaps behind Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown (ankle) and JuJu Smith-Schuster once healthy.
