Pavelski made his retirement from playing hockey official during an interview with SiriusXM NHL Network Radio on Tuesday. As expected, Pavelski has decided to hang up his skates after accumulating 476 goals and 1,068 points in 1,332 career regular-season games for San Jose and Dallas. The 40-year-old forward also had 74 goals and 69 assists in 201 NHL playoff outings.

Pavelski said Tuesday that he won't play in 2024-25 and is likely to bring an end to his 18-year NHL career, Ryan S. Clark of ESPN.com reports. "This is it for me," Pavelski said. While Pavelski didn't say outright that he was retiring from professional hockey, he acknowledged in his postseason exit interviews that he had known for a while that the 2023-24 season would be his last in the NHL. The second-oldest player in the NHL this past season, Pavelski remained a productive source of offense for Dallas, notching 27 goals and 40 assists while playing in all 82 contests. Before joining Dallas as a free agent in 2019, Pavelski served as a longtime captain for San Jose and represented the club in two All-Star Games. He added two more All-Star appearances to his ledger during his five seasons in Dallas and finishes his career with 476 goals and 592 assists over 1,332 regular-season games.

Pavelski recorded an assist, two shots on goal and five hits in Friday's 2-1 double-overtime win over the Avalanche in Game 6. Pavelski was able to poke the puck free from the skates of several Avalanche players in front of the net, and Matt Duchene buried the shot amid the chaos for the series-clinching goal. All four of Pavelski's points this postseason have been collected in the second round, three of which have come over the last two contests. The 39-year-old has added 19 shots on net, 28 hits and a minus-1 rating over 13 playoff outings. If he's able to carry his recent momentum into the Western Conference Finals, the Stars could add another dynamic to their deep offense.

Pavelski scored a goal on three shots, dished a power-play assist and added two hits in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Avalanche in Game 5. Pavelski opened the scoring at 9:03 of the first period and helped out on Miro Heiskanen's second-period marker. The goal was his first of the postseason, and this was Pavelski's first multi-point effort since March 28. He has three points, 17 shots on net, 23 hits, 11 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over 12 contests. Getting the 39-year-old going on offense would be a nice boost for the Stars, who will try again to close out the Avalanche in Game 6 on Friday.

Pavelski notched an assist in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Kraken. Pavelski continues to hum along on offense with three goals, six assists and 22 shots on net over his last 11 games. The 39-year-old is up to 27 goals, 67 points, 191 shots on net, 74 hits, 70 blocked shots and a plus-13 rating through 81 appearances. The Stars have already clinched the top seed in the Western Conference, but it's unclear if they plan to rest any veterans for Wednesday's regular-season finale versus the Blues. Pavelski hasn't missed a regular-season game since 2019-20.
