Maroon (back) will be activated from long-term injured reserve ahead of his return to the lineup Saturday against the Penguins, Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic reports. Maroon will make his Boston debut after being acquired from Minnesota at the trade deadline. He hasn't played since Jan. 27, following back surgery in early February. The 35-year-old winger had four goals and 16 points in 49 games with the Wild. Maroon's expected to fill a bottom-six role in Boston down the stretch.

Per Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic, Maroon was an extra forward during Monday's practice. The 35-year-old Maroon has four goals, 16 points, 60 PIM and 71 hits in 49 games this season. When he's ready to make his Boston debut, he will likely occupy a bottom-six spot in the lineup. The Bruins acquired Maroon in a trade with Minnesota on March 8.

Maroon (back) is still considered week-to-week, Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe reports Monday. Maroon has been sidelined since Jan. 27 versus the Ducks and will have to wait even longer to make his Bruins debut. Before the veteran got hurt, he was mired in a 13-game goal drought during which he registered a meager nine shots on net to go with two assists.
