Varlamov (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, per the NHL media site. Varlamov has been dealing with a lower-body issue since Dec. 2, and he hasn't played since Nov. 29 against Washington. He has posted a 3-4-3 record with a 2.89 GAA and an .889 save percentage across 10 appearances this season. It's unclear when he will be ready to return, but he didn't accompany the Islanders on the team's upcoming three-game road trip.

Varlamov (lower body) won't travel with the Islanders ahead of Sunday's game in Chicago, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com. Varlamov, who hasn't played since Nov. 29, still appears to be a ways away from returning as the Isles head out on a three-game road trip. The 36-year-old netminder has gone 3-4-3 with a 2.89 GAA and an .889 save percentage this season. Varlamov's next chance to suit up will likely come Dec. 23 when the Islanders return home to face Buffalo.

Varlamov (lower body) was not on the ice at morning practice and remains out of action versus Chicago on Thursday, according to Stefen Rosner of NHL.com. Varlamov has missed almost two weeks of action with the injury. He is 3-4-3 with a 2.89 GAA and a .889 save percentage. Ilya Sorokin is expected to start Thursday with Marcus Hogberg as his backup.

Varlamov (lower body) won't be in the lineup versus the Kings on Tuesday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports. Varlamov's last start came Nov. 29 against the Capitals in which he gave up five goals on 26 shots (.808 save percentage). Starter Ilya Sorokin has been performing well of late -- going 3-1-1 with a 2.34 GAA in his last five -- but it seems likely Varlamov would have been given at least one of the team's last five games if he was available. Until Varlamov is cleared to play, Marcus Hogberg figures to serve as the No. 2 option.

Varlamov (lower body) won't be in the lineup for Saturday's home matchup against Carolina, according to Andrew Gross of Newsday. Varlamov will miss his second straight game, and it's unclear if he will be ready to return on the road versus Ottawa on Sunday. Ilya Sorokin will start versus the Hurricanes, and he could face the Senators in the second half of the Islanders' back-to-back, per Gross. Marcus Hogberg has been the backup goalie during Varlamov's absence.
