  Eakin has been released from his professional tryout by the Flames, according to Darren Haynes of The Athletic. Eakin had four goals and 12 points in 69 games last season for the Sabres and was trying to catch on in Calgary, but to no avail.

  Eakin signed a professional tryout offer with the Flames on Sunday. Eakin spent the last two seasons in Buffalo, totaling 19 points while averaging 13:20 of ice time through 115 appearances. The 31-year-old forward will enter a competition for a bottom-six role in training camp.
