Gibson yielded three goals on 32 shots in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Sabres. Gibson started consecutive games for the first time this season, but it ended up resulting in his first defeat. The 31-year-old couldn't protect a 2-0 lead, letting the Sabres pull even late in the second period before giving up a goal to Jiri Kulich on a rebound in overtime. Gibson is now 3-0-1 with a 2.70 GAA and a .906 save percentage over four appearances. Lukas Dostal has played too well to be completely relegated to the backup role -- expect the Ducks to operate a timeshare in the crease when both Gibson and Dostal are healthy. The team's next game is Monday versus the Kraken.

Gibson was the first goaltender off the ice at morning skate, per Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News, indicating he will patrol the home crease versus Buffalo on Friday. Gibson will make his second straight start and fourth in the last six games. He missed the first month of the season recovering from an appendectomy before returning to action Nov. 10 against the Blue Jackets. The veteran netminder is 3-0-0 and has given up eight goals on 85 shots (.906 save percentage) since returning to full health. Gibson will face the Sabres, who are averaging 3.21 goals per game.

Gibson stopped 18 of 20 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks. The Blackhawks weren't able to get much going on offense outside of a pair of Jason Dickinson goals. Gibson faced his lightest workload of the season to earn his third straight win, and he's allowed a total of eight goals on 85 shots so far. The 31-year-old netminder has alternated started with Lukas Dostal since Gibson was activated from injured reserve, and that pattern seems likely to continue. It could benefit both netminders by helping them avoid being overworked. The Ducks' next two games are at home -- they play the Sabres on Friday and the Kraken on Monday.

Gibson will guard the road goal versus the Blackhawks on Tuesday, Greg Boysen of CHGO Sports reports. Gibson will get the second half of a back-to-back after Lukas Dostal picked up a 4-2 win over the Stars on Monday. Through two starts this season, Gibson has been solid, winning both outings while allowing six goals on 65 shots. The Blackhawks are a soft matchup, but the Ducks don't tend to score a lot either, so they could struggle to offer sufficient support.

Gibson gave up four goals on 25 shots in Friday's 6-4 win over the Red Wings. Gibson has won both of his starts since returning from an appendectomy, but this wasn't a pretty effort. The Red Wings' power play converted three times, and it took a strong third period for the Ducks to pull off a comeback. With Lukas Dostal struggling recently, Gibson has a chance to stake his claim to at least a timeshare role. The Ducks' next two games are on the road with stops in Dallas on Monday and Chicago on Tuesday -- whichever goalie starts the latter game will be a strong streaming option.
