• Oilers' Ryan Murray: Back from conditioning

  Murray (back) was recalled from his conditioning loan Sunday, per CapFriendly. Murray dressed in two games with AHL Bakersfield before returning to the Oilers. He hasn't appeared in an NHL game since November and his status for Monday's playoff tilt with the Kings is unclear. Murray will have to be removed from long-term injured reserve before he's eligible to play.

  Murray (back) was loaned to AHL Bakersfield on a conditioning assignment Thursday. Murray has been out of action since Nov. 21, missing the last 61 games with the injury. He has three assists in 13 games with the Oilers this season. Look for Murray to be a depth defenseman for Edmonton in the playoffs.

Given his recovery timetable, we likely won't see Murray back in action until after the All-Star break. Either way, he's only picked up three helpers through 13 games this season, so fantasy managers shouldn't need to track his status.

The Oilers needed to place someone on injured reserve as Ryan McLeod (high ankle sprain) was activated Friday. Murray has three assists in 13 games this season.

  Murray (back) is expected to miss a month, Mark Spector of Sportsnet reported Sunday. Murray has already been out of the lineup for 14 straight games as of Monday's game versus the Predators, and a return is not on the horizon. The 29-year-old has battled back injuries in his past, so there's a fair possibility his absence could extend beyond a month if he has a tricky recovery. Markus Niemelainen figures to play on the third pairing with both Murray and Philip Broberg (ankle) unavailable, though Jason Demers could also be called up to fill a similar role.
