Brossoit underwent successful surgery Tuesday to repair the meniscus in his right knee, according to Tracey Myers of NHL.com. Fresh off of signing a two-year, $6.6 million contract with Chicago in July, Brossoit will likely miss training camp with the potential of starting the season on the shelf. This news comes as a surprise, so Brossoit's recovery will be something to monitor as the season approaches. The 31-year-old has been one of the more capable NHL backup netminders over the last few years, so it's possible he could challenge Petr Mrazek for the starting gig when healthy. Brossoit went 15-5-2 with a .927 save percentage and a 2.00 GAA with Winnipeg in 2023-24.

Brossoit signed a two-year, $6.6 million contract with the Blackhawks on Monday, according to Chris Johnston of The Athletic. Brossoit had a 15-5-2 record, 2.00 GAA and .927 save percentage in 23 regular-season contests with Winnipeg in 2023-24. He'll likely serve as the backup goaltender behind Petr Mrazek, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Brossoit play significantly more in Chicago than he did in Winnipeg. Meanwhile, Arvid Soderblom, who logged 32 games with the Blackhawks last season, will probably begin the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

Brossoit was thrust into duty Sunday when starter Connor Hellebuyck was pulled at the end of the second period. He made four saves in relief as the Jets fell 5-1 to the Avalanche in Game 4. Hellebuyck was pulled in the second period after allowing four goals, so Brossoit took over between the pipes and turned aside all four shots sent his way. The Avalanche added an empty-netter with only 13 seconds left in the game. This was Brossoit's first appearance in the playoffs. Look for Winnipeg to return to Hellebuyck when the Jets host Colorado in Game 5 on Tuesday.

Brossoit made 18 saves in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Canucks. The 31-year-old netminder shut Vancouver down completely in the third period as Winnipeg broke open a 2-2 tie. Brossoit finishes the regular season with the best numbers of his career, going 15-5-2 with a 2.00 GAA and .927 save percentage over 23 outings to claim a share of the Jennings Trophy for the league's stingiest goaltending, but he'll head to the bench for the playoffs as Connor Hellebuyck gets ready to face the Avalanche in the first round beginning Sunday.

Brossoit is set to start at home against the Canucks on Thursday, per Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site. Brossoit earned a 24-save shutout victory over Dallas in his last start last Thursday. He's been a superb backup goaltender for the Jets, posting a 14-5-2 record, 2.00 GAA and .928 save percentage across 22 contests this season. The Canucks are typically a difficult adversary, ranking sixth offensively with 3.42 goals per game, but they might rest some of their top players Thursday with the playoffs around the corner.
