Per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times, Brossoit (knee) will remain out indefinitely, coach Luke Richardson said Saturday. Brossoit underwent surgery Aug. 27, and he was expected to need seven weeks to recover. Richardson said it has taken way longer than initially projected, and there is currently no timetable for his return. Brossoit was expected to share the net with Petr Mrazek, and that could still happen upon his return.

Brossoit (knee) won't join the Blackhawks before the end of their current road trip, which still includes games in San Jose on Thursday, Los Angeles on Saturday and Anaheim on Sunday, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports Wednesday. Brossoit hasn't yet played for Chicago in 2024-25. When he is healthy enough to return, Arvid Soderblom might be reassigned to the minors, but it's also possible that the Blackhawks will carry three goaltenders. Either way, Petr Mrazek would likely continue to get the majority of Chicago's starts.

Head coach Luke Richardson said Thursday that Brossoit (knee) won't travel with the Blackhawks for the start of their upcoming road trip, which begins Saturday in Dallas, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. While Brossoit won't be with the team for the start of the road trip, Richardson said that the goalie could join the Blackhawks in San Jose ahead of their Oct. 31 matchup against the Sharks since Chicago will have more practice time at that point. While the 31-year-old appears to be trending toward a return, he still seems to be at least a week or two away from returning to game action.

Brossoit (knee) was placed on season-opening injured reserve Friday, Mario Tirabassi of CHGO Sports reports. Brossoit will carry a reduced cap hit while on season-opening IR. The 31-year-old is expected to return some time during the Blackhawks' four-game road trip to begin the campaign. Arvid Soderblom is likely to make the initial roster, but he'll likely head to AHL Rockford once Brossoit is activated.

Brossoit (knee) might return midway through Chicago's season-opening road trip, according to Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times on Thursday. The Blackhawks are set to play Tuesday in Utah, Oct. 11 in Winnipeg, Oct. 12 in Edmonton and Oct. 15 in Calgary before making their home debut Oct. 17 against the Sharks. Brossoit had a 15-5-2 record, 2.00 GAA and .927 save percentage in 23 regular-season contests with Winnipeg in 2023-24. When he's healthy, Brossoit will fight with Petr Mrazek for starts, but because Brossoit isn't expected to be available for Opening Night, Arvid Soderblom is likely to enter the season as Chicago's No. 2 netminder behind Mrazek. Once Brossoit is healthy, Soderblom might be sent to the minors, but it's also possible Chicago will opt to carry three goaltenders.
