• Jakub Zboril: Misses out on roster

  Zboril did not make the Devils' roster announced Monday, James Nichols of New Jersey Hockey Now reports. Zboril and fellow tryout defenseman Andy Welinski are officially free agents after missing the Devils' roster. It remains possible the Devils sign one or both of them to two-way deals in the coming days.

  Zboril scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Tuesday's 5-4 preseason loss to the Rangers. The 27-year-old defenseman didn't pan out with the Bruins after being the 13th overall selection in the 2015 NHL Draft, and Zboril is looking for a fresh start with the Devils on a PTO. With Luke Hughes (shoulder) set to miss the start of the season and Brett Pesce (lower leg) also banged up, there could be a spot for Zboril on the blue line, but the fact that he didn't accompany the team's regulars to Prague for a pair of Global Series games against the Sabres this weekend doesn't bode well for his chances.

• Devils' Jakub Zboril: Signs PTO with Devils

  Zboril signed a professional tryout agreement with New Jersey on Thursday. Zboril has been a disappointment since he was selected 13th overall in 2015 by the Bruins. The 27-year-old has appeared in only 76 NHL regular-season games, scoring once and adding 15 assists. Zboril spent the 2023-24 season in the minors, picking up 13 assists in 46 AHL games split between Cleveland and Providence. Should Zboril make the Devils out of training camp, he will be a depth defenseman.

• Blue Jackets' Jakub Zboril: Dealt to Blue Jackets

  Zboril, along with a 2027 third-round pick, was acquired by Columbus from Boston in exchange for Andrew Peeke on Friday, according to Chris Johnston of The Athletic. Zboril has nine assists and 19 PIM in 31 contests with AHL Providence this season. The 27-year-old has also recorded a goal and 16 points in 76 career NHL games.

• Bruins' Jakub Zboril: Hits waivers

  Zboril was waived by Boston on Wednesday, per Chris Johnston of The Athletic. Zboril is already in the minors, so the Bruins likely just made this move to give them the flexibility to move the 26-year-old blueliner between levels without going through waivers again for the foreseeable future. Zboril has yet to play in the NHL this year.
