Kase (concussion) signed a one-year contract with HC Litvinov of the Czech Extraliga on Sunday. Kase played in only one game with Carolina last season after suffering a concussion Opening Night versus Columbus, but it appears he's now healthy. The 27-year-old forward has picked up 57 goals and 124 points in 258 career NHL contests, but he may spend the rest of his playing days overseas.

Kase (concussion) was moved to on the long-term injured reserve list Wednesday. Kase, who hasn't played since Oct. 12, was already on the regular injured reserve list. This move provides Carolina with some extra maneuvering room when it comes to the salary cap. The Hurricanes also activated Max Pacioretty from the injured non-roster list Wednesday. It's not clear when Kase will be able to return to the lineup. He had 14 goals and 27 points in 50 contests last season.

Kase suffered the concussion on Opening Night and he is practicing for the first time in two months. Kase has been skating the last week and all signs are pointing to a return sooner rather than later. He had 14 goals and 27 points in 50 injury-riddled games with the Maple Leafs last season.

Kase (concussion) skated before practice Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Kase suffered the concussion on Opening Night and this is the first time he has been spotted on the ice since Oct. 12. The 27-year-old forward still has no timetable for his return.

Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour said Wednesday that he doesn't believe Kase (concussion) will be back soon, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site. Kase was hurt on Oct. 12 and hasn't played since. Unfortunately, the 27-year-old forward has an extensive injury history and has only played in 60 or more games once in his career.
