Jarvis inked an eight-year, $63.2 million contract with the Hurricanes on Saturday. The 22-year-old forward had a career-best 33 goals and 34 assists in 81 regular-season games with the Hurricanes last season. He continued his outstanding play in the playoffs with five goals and nine points in 11 appearances. Jarvis will start the season on the top line, alongside Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov, as well as the first power-play unit and could hit the 80-point mark in 2024-25.

Jarvis scored a goal on three shots in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Rangers in Game 1. Jarvis' tally came with 1:45 left in the third period, but the Hurricanes were unable to find an equalizer. The winger has been strong so far in the playoffs with four goals, four assists, 14 shots on net, 14 hits and a plus-4 rating over six appearances. While he's listed on the Hurricanes' third line, his usage has been more in line with a top-six forward, especially with a significant power-play role.

The 22-year-old helped set up Carolina's first two tallies as the team grabbed a 2-0 lead inside the first four minutes of the first period. Jarvis then iced things late with an empty-netter. He piled up three goals and seven points in five games against the Isles, giving him plenty of momentum heading into the Hurricanes' second-round clash with the Rangers.

Jarvis set up Teuvo Teravainen's power-play marker in the second period before cutting Carolina's deficit to 3-2 in the third, beating Semyon Varlamov with a wrister from the circle. Jarvis would add a third point with a second assist on Sebastian Aho's game-tying goal later in the frame. The 22-year-old winger is coming off a breakout campaign where he posted 33 goals and 67 points in 81 games, including 10 points (six goals, four assists) in his final nine regular-season contests.

Jarvis (rest) returned to practice Thursday, according to Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site. Jarvis sat out the Hurricanes' season finale as coach Rod Brind'Amour decided to rest a few key players. Jarvis had a career-high 33 goals and 67 points in 81 games during the regular season.
