  • Johnston picked up an assist in Saturday's 4-2 loss to Florida during Dallas' NHL Global Series game in Finland. Johnston earned his first point in six games. The 21-year-old has struggled out of the gate after a remarkable 2023-24, where many analysts thought he was often the best Stars player on the ice. He has just one goal and five assists in 11 games. Johnston's shooting rate, which is at an abysmal 4.0 percent, should start to revert to his career norm (14.2 percent), and the points will flow. Stay patient.

  • Johnston registered an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout win over the Sharks. Johnston stretched his season-opening point streak to four games (one goal, three assists) when he helped out on a Roope Hintz tally late in the second period. In addition to the steady offense, Johnston has six shots on net, three blocked shots and a plus-3 rating while seeing time on both the first and third lines at various times. The 21-year-old forward had 65 points in 82 regular-season outings last year, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him come close to a point-per-game pace in 2024-25 given he plays a key role on a team that can produce goals in a variety of ways.

  • Johnston scored a goal, blocked two shots and added two PIM in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Kraken. Johnston had the Stars' second goal, firing in a shot from the right circle just 13 seconds after Sam Steel put the home team on the board in the first period. The 21-year-old Johnston has a goal, two assists, five shots on net, three blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over three contests this season. He continues to play key minutes while filling a third-line center role, which isn't a problem on a team as deep as Dallas.

  • Johnston, who is dealing with an undisclosed injury, is still expected to suit up versus Nashville on Thursday, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports. Johnston played in all 82 games in each of the previous two seasons, but that record could be in doubt if he suffers a setback ahead of Thursday's Opening Night contest. If he avoids any extended absences, Johnston could challenge his career-high numbers from last season when he set personal bests in goals (32), assists (33) and shots on net (216).

  • Johnston scored a goal on two shots in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Oilers in Game 5. Johnston has scored in three straight games, but the Stars have just three tallies over their last two contests. The 21-year-old is up to 10 goals, six assists, 55 shots on net, 24 hits and a plus-4 rating through 18 playoff appearances. Johnston's steady offense has made him a reliable option in fantasy in this breakout campaign.
