Kochetkov turned aside 18 shots in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Flyers. A goal by Ryan Poehling through a partial screen early in the second period scuttled any thoughts of a shutout, but Kochetkov otherwise had no trouble shutting down the Philly offense. The 25-year-old netminder has gone 8-1-0 in nine starts since Frederik Andersen (lower body) landed on the shelf with a 2.16 GAA and .911 save percentage. Andersen still has no timeline for his return, so Kochetkov should maintain a firm hold on the No. 1 job for the Hurricanes.

Kochetkov is expected to start on the road against Philadelphia on Wednesday, according to Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site. Kochetkov stopped 29 of 30 shots en route to a 4-1 win over St. Louis in his last start Sunday. He's 9-2-0 with a 2.42 GAA and a .904 save percentage in 11 outings this season. The Flyers rank 20th offensively with 2.79 goals per game.

Kochetkov (undisclosed) may not be available against the Senators on Saturday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports. It's bad timing for the Hurricanes, as in addition to Kochetkov, they are already without Frederik Andersen (lower body). Even if Kochetkov is cleared to play, the team may opt to have him take the second game of the back-to-back versus the Blues on Sunday just to give him some more time to recover. If he can't go at all, the team will need to recall a backstop from the minors and could be forced to use Spencer Martin in both ends of the back-to-back.

Kochetkov was the first goalie off Wednesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports, indicating he'll start on the road against Utah. Kochetkov has been hot lately, picking up wins in each of his last seven starts while posting a 2.28 GAA and .911 save percentage during that time. He'll start in a second consecutive game Wednesday and has a favorable matchup against Utah, who has averaged just 2.73 goals per game this season.

Kochetkov stopped 30 of 32 shots in Monday's 5-2 win over the Golden Knights. It wouldn't be a stretch to say Kochetkov has been one of the best goaltenders in the NHL over the last few weeks, and the numbers undoubtedly back that up. He's won each of his last seven starts while posting a 2.28 GAA and a strong .911 save percentage in that stretch. Plus, Kochetkov has allowed two or fewer goals in five of those seven contests.
