Oettinger allowed five goals on 27 shots in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Oilers. Oettinger gave up three goals in the first period, and then the Stars' defensive blunders took over as the Oilers struck twice more in the middle frame. This was Oettinger's second road loss in a row, and he's given up five goals in each of those games. He's down to a 30-14-2 record with a 2.48 GAA and a .909 save percentage across 46 starts. Casey DeSmith will likely get the nod Sunday in Vancouver, but look for Oettinger to start in Winnipeg on Friday after a rare four-day gap in the schedule, which should allow him to mentally reset after this poor outing.

Oettinger will defend the road cage Saturday against the Oilers, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports. Oettinger has won three consecutive games while turning aside 94 of 101 shots on net (.931 save percentage) in that span. The Oilers rank ninth in the NHL with 3.23 goals per game this season, but they're 2-6-0 in their last eight outings. Oettinger has a 4-2-1 record, .915 save percentage and 2.44 GAA over seven career appearances against Edmonton.

Oettinger stopped 26 of 28 shots in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Flames. The Flames opened up a 2-0 lead but couldn't stretch it beyond that. The Stars then pulled off a comeback, giving Oettinger his fourth win in five outings. While he's allowed 15 goals in that span, he continues to give his team a chance to compete. The 26-year-old has reached the 30-win mark for the fourth year in a row at 30-13-2 with a 2.42 GAA and a .911 save percentage over 45 starts. The Stars begin a challenging four-game road trip with a back-to-back, which sees them visit the Oilers on Saturday and the Canucks on Sunday. Look for Oettinger and Casey DeSmith to split those starts.

Oettinger will defend the home crease versus Calgary on Thursday, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports. Oettinger will attempt to win his third game in a row. He has stopped 68 of 73 shots (.932 save percentage), in victories over St. Louis and Los Angeles in the last week. Oettinger is 29-13-2 with a 2.44 GAA and a .911 save percentage over 44 outings this season. The Flames are tied for last in NHL scoring this season, generating a paltry 2.59 goals per game.

Oettinger allowed three goals on 42 shots in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Blues. The Stars' power play was a perfect 4-for-4 in the contest, giving Oettinger plenty of support in the win. He's won three of his last four outings, though he's given up 13 goals on 138 shots in that span. The Stars are clearly missing Miro Heiskanen's defensive presence -- Oettinger has faced an average of 33.1 shots per game across his seven appearances in Heiskanen's absence, compared to an average of 25.5 shots against per game prior to the defenseman's injury. Still, Oettinger is a reliable goalie and is at 29-13-2 with a 2.44 GAA and a .911 save percentage across 44 starts this season. The Stars have another tough game next on the schedule when they host the Devils on Tuesday.
