Michkov scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Monday's 4-3 shootout win over the Sharks. After getting parked in the press box by coach John Tortorella the last two games, Michkov returned to the lineup and made an immediate impact. The rookie winger set up Travis Konecny for a tally in the first period then scored on a breakaway early in the second to give the Flyers a 3-0 lead. When that didn't prove to be enough, Michkov beat Vitek Vanecek again for the first successful attempt in the shootout. Michkov was also a plus-2 on the night, and it's his defensive-zone work that Tortorella wants the seventh overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft to focus on. There have been no complaints about Michkov's offense -- through his first 14 NHL games, he's produced five goals and 12 points, with eight of them (three goals, five helpers) coming on the power play.

Michkov will be a healthy scratch for Thursday's game against the Lightning. Michkov appeared in each of the Flyers' first 13 games of the season and logged four goals, 10 points, six blocked shots and two hits while averaging 17:50 of ice time. However, he's cooled off recently, tallying just one assist over his last five outings. Head coach John Tortorella has benched some prominent players -- especially rookies -- in the past in order to send a message, and Michkov will get a night off Thursday. Anthony Richard will draw into the lineup against Tampa Bay, while Michkov's next opportunity to suit up will be Saturday against the Panthers.

Michkov posted an assist in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Hurricanes. Michkov's helper ended a four-game slump for the talented rookie. There will be ups and downs as there are with any young player, but Michkov's ice time has also dropped recently. He's had a couple of benchings by head coach John Tortorella, Madeline Campbell of Broad Street Hockey reports, and that could continue as Tortorella works to iron out the flaws in Michkov's play. Tortorella has indicated he wouldn't hesitate to scratch Michkov, as he has done with other young players throughout his various stops in the NHL. Michkov has 10 points, 23 shots on net and a minus-8 rating over his first 13 appearances, but fantasy managers should be prepared for some attrition when rostering the rookie, who is playing on a last-place team.

Michkov scored a goal on three shots, dished an assist, added two PIM and went minus-3 in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Capitals. Michkov was at the center of the Flyers' comeback effort, but it fell just short. The 19-year-old winger continues to be dynamic with the man advantage -- he has earned six of his seven points on the power play so far. He's at three goals, four assists, 14 shots on net, six PIM and a minus-9 rating through seven appearances, though he continues to play in a top-line role.

Michkov recorded an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Capitals. The helper was Michkov's first career even-strength point. He has five points, 11 shots on net and a minus-6 rating through six appearances. While he's maintained a top-line role so far and is hardly the only one to blame for the Flyers' struggles, if his offense dips, he could find himself seeing a smaller role for a bit.
