  Greenway (undisclosed) returned to practice Friday but will remain out of the lineup versus Nashville, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports. Greenway last played Dec. 17 in Toronto, and Friday's tilt will be the 20th straight game he has missed. Greenway has three goals, four assists, 54 hits and 19 blocked shots across 20 appearances this season.

  Greenway (undisclosed) will undergo surgery and will be sidelined long-term, but the Sabres expect him to return before the end of the regular season, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports Thursday. Greenway has played in just four of the Sabres' last 15 outings while dealing with his undisclosed injury. With the veteran forward on the shelf, the team could activate Sam Lafferty (lower body) off injured reserve -- especially with Ryan McLeod's (undisclosed) status also in doubt versus Toronto on Friday. Given Greenway's recovery timeline, he almost certainly will be designated for long-term injured reserve in the future.
