  Portillo was reassigned to AHL Ontario on Saturday. Portillo was the backup for two games during his emergency recall, as David Rittich picked up both starts. The Kings recalled Pheonix Copley in a corresponding move Saturday.

  Portillo was recalled on an emergency basis from AHL Ontario on Friday. The Kings need a backup netminder, as Darcy Kuemper suffered an undisclosed injury in Wednesday's tilt versus Colorado and was placed on injured reserve Friday. David Rittich will get the start Saturday versus Detroit, while Portillo will be the backup. Portillo was 3-2-0 with a 3.02 GAA and an .891 save percentage over five AHL appearances to begin the season.

  Portillo will guard the road crease in Monday's exhibition contest versus Utah, Jared Shafran of LA Kings Insider reports. Portillo posted a 24-11-3 record with a 2.50 GAA and a .918 save percentage in 39 regular-season appearances with AHL Ontario in 2023-24. The 24-year-old will likely be limited to the AHL again in 2024-25 -- the Kings currently have three veteran netminders in training camp.
