  Mandolese was reassigned to AHL Colorado on Thursday. Mandolese filled the backup role in goal during Alexandar Georgiev's absence, but the former did not play during his brief stint in the NHL. With Georgiev healthy after winning Thursday against the Capitals, Mandolese heads back to the AHL ranks until the big club has another injury concern in goal.

  Mandolese was called up from AHL Colorado on Sunday. Mandolese figures to back up Justus Annunen on Monday with Alexandar Georgiev (upper body) landing on IR. The 24-year-old Mandolese last played in the NHL in 2022, when he went 1-2-0 with a .916 save percentage in three games with the Senators.

  Mandolese was put on waivers Saturday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. Mandolese posted a 3.07 GAA and a .901 save percentage in 23 contests with AHL Belleville in 2023-24. The 24-year-old appeared in three NHL games with Ottawa in 2022-23, in which he went 1-2-0 with a 3.30 GAA and a .916 save percentage. He will probably begin the 2024-25 campaign in the minors with AHL Colorado.

  Mandolese signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Avalanche on Tuesday. Mandolese's rights were acquired from Ottawa on Monday, and it didn't take Colorado long to get the 23-year-old goalie under contract. Mandolese is likely to spend most of 2024-25 with AHL Colorado, though he has three games of NHL experience and could see some time with the big club if Alexandar Georgiev or Justus Annunen are sidelined at any point.

  Colorado acquired Mandolese and a 2026 seventh-round pick from Ottawa on Monday in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round selection. Mandolese posted a 10-9-2 record with a 3.07 GAA and a .901 save percentage across 23 regular-season appearances for AHL Belleville in 2023-24. He also went 0-2-0 with a 3.53 GAA and a .918 save percentage in two outings with ECHL Allen. With Alexandar Georgiev and Justus Annunen poised to occupy the top-two goaltending spots with the Avalanche in 2024-25, Mandolese will likely start the season in the minors.
