Dach had one shot on net, two blocks, one hit, two PIM and finished minus-3 in Tuesday's 8-2 loss to the Kraken. Instead of reintegrating Juraj Slafkovsky, fresh off a three-game absence due to an upper-body injury, to the top line, head coach Martin St. Louis let Dach skate with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. That's the best assignment a Canadien forward can have. However, that alignment didn't last long. By the time the second period started with the Habs down 4-1, the coach reunited Slafkovsky on the top unit, and Dach was moved back to the second line, where he was to begin the season. Dach appeared to lose his coverage assignment on Seattle's first goal 25 seconds into the game and again on the sixth goal midway through the second period. He played one more shift in the second and just four in the third for a total of 3:41 TOI over the final two periods of the game. Dach's minus-12 through 10 appearances is the lowest among all Montreal skaters.

Dach scored a goal on four shots, dished a power-play assist and had three hits in Saturday's 5-2 win over St. Louis. As several players attempted to get a stick on a rebound, Dach swooped in and buried the puck while falling to the ice for his first goal of the season, which increased Montreal's lead to 2-0. He later was the primary assistant on Alex Newhook's power-play tally six seconds into a St. Louis penalty. Since moving to the top line as a replacement for the injured Juraj Slafkovsky (shoulder), Dach has three points in two games.

Dach logged a power-play assist, four shots, three blocks and one hit in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to the Rangers. Dach had a secondary assist on a power-play goal, his second point of the season and first in six games. He moved onto the top line after the Canadiens announced Juraj Slafkovsky (upper body) would be out at least a week. The club hopes Dach's presence on a line with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield will trigger his scoring touch.

Dach registered a power-play assist and three hits in Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Maple Leafs. Dach was limited to two games last season after tearing his right ACL and MCL in his knee. While still just 23, he's been limited to 130 games out of a possible 246 over the last three years, though he has 66 points in that span. As long as he can stay healthy, he has upside as the Canadiens' second-line center, and his potential is further heightened by his spot on the top power-play unit.

Dach (knee) was on the ice for Monday's informal skate ahead of the start of training camp. Dach missed nearly the entire 2023-24 campaign due to his knee injury, having logged just two games with the club last year in which he generated two assists, three shots on goal and three hits. Heading into the upcoming campaign, the 23-year-old center should be expected to take the next step in his development and build upon his 2022-23 season after putting up 14 goals and 24 assists during that campaign. Set for a top-six role, Dach should benefit by playing with offseason acquisition Patrik Laine.
