  Comeau cleared waivers Friday and is expected to report to AHL Texas, Matthew DeFranks of The Dallas Morning News reports. The 35-year-old has 334 points in 909 NHL contests, so it was surprising to see him waived and then pass through unclaimed. Comeau hasn't played a non-NHL professional contest since a 19-game AHL stint in 2008-09.

Comeau has been a regular in Dallas' lineup since the 2018-19 campaign, so this move comes as a surprise despite the fact he's only picked up one goal through six games this season. If Comeau isn't plucked off waivers by another team, he'll presumably report to AHL Texas.

  Comeau scored a goal and added two PIM in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over the Flames. Comeau capitalized on a turnover late in the second period, scoring on a pass from Michael Raffl with just six seconds left on the clock. The 35-year-old Comeau has been a bottom-six fixture for the Stars since entering the lineup after missing six games with an upper-body injury. His goal Thursday was his first point in four contests, and he's added nine hits, four PIM and a minus-2 rating.

  Comeau (upper body) will return to the lineup against the Golden Knights on Wednesday, Bruce LeVine of Dallas Stars Radio reports. Comeau will get to make his season debut after missing the opening six contests with an upper-body injury. The 35-year-old winger figures to slot into a fourth-line role and shouldn't be expected to see much in the way of power-play minutes, making him a low-end fantasy option with a ceiling likely in the 20-25 point range. In order to activate Comeau off injured reserve, the team reassigned Jacob Peterson to AHL Texas.

• Stars' Blake Comeau: Won't play Monday

  Comeau (upper body) will not play Monday in Columbus, Kyle Shohara of the Stars' official site reports. Comeau was able to practice Sunday, though, so his return doesn't seem too far off. Look for the team to update his status ahead of Wednesday's game against visiting Vegas.
