  Letang (finger) has been cleared for training camp, per Pittsburgh's training camp roster Tuesday. Letang didn't let his finger injury stop him from playing in all 82 games last year in which he generated 10 goals and 41 assists. With the addition of Erik Karlsson, the 37-year-old Letang recorded a meager five power-play points, tied for his lowest total with the man advantage for his career with the exception of 2006-07 when he appeared in just seven contests. Assuming Pittsburgh's power play improves this season -- it would be hard-pressed to get worse -- Letang should inherently see his scoring productivity creep back up this year.

  Letang had surgery to repair a fractured finger and will need eight weeks to recover, the team announced Wednesday. Letang's recovery timeline shouldn't impact his availability for the start of training camp in the fall. Despite the injury concern, the veteran blueliner played a full 82-game season this past year for the first time since 2010-11. While the Montreal native still managed to rack up 51 points in 2023-24, his productivity with the man advantage dropped significantly, as he managed just five power-play points compared to 21 the campaign before.

Although Letang was banged up down the stretch, he appeared in all 82 games for Pittsburgh during the 2023-24 season, racking up 10 goals and 51 points. Another update on the veteran blueliner's status should surface if surgery is required.

  Letang told reporters he was "dealing with some stuff" during the final weeks of the season, per Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Letang was still able to play but did have a handful of maintenance days along the way. Despite being banged up, the veteran blueliner still managed 10 points in his last 11 contests, reaching the 50-point threshold for the seventh time in his NHL career. With Erik Karlsson on the roster, Letang was a relative non-factor with the man advantage this year, earning just five power-play points, something fantasy players will have to factor into their decisions heading into 2024-25.

Letang has recorded a point in seven of his last eight contests, tallying a combined two goals, seven assists and 13 shots while averaging 25:20 of ice time. While the blueliner's production with the man advantage has dropped off, he has topped his point total from last year with 50 points in 79 contests.
