  • Blue Jackets' Cole Sillinger: Sets up overtime winner

Sillinger logged an assist and two PIM in Friday's 3-2 overtime win over Utah.

One day after scoring the game-winner in Vegas, Sillinger set up Zach Werenski's tally 1:01 into overtime against Utah. Sillinger is back in a top-six role after sitting out three games due to an upper-body injury. The 21-year-old center is up to 25 points, 107 shots on net, 58 hits, 33 PIM and a minus-13 rating over 47 appearances this season, giving him a good chance of surpassing his career-high 32 points from 2023-24.

  • Blue Jackets' Adam Fantilli: Produces assist Friday

Fantilli contributed an assist and four shots on goal in Friday's 3-2 overtime win over Utah.

Fantilli wrapped up an eight-goal, 15-point January, with that production coming over 14 appearances. The 20-year-old set up linemate Kirill Marchenko to spark Friday's comeback win. Fantilli is up to 15 goals, 15 helpers, 111 shots on net, 66 hits, 38 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 52 appearances. His play primarily on the top line in January has put the No. 3 pick from 2023 into must-have territory in most fantasy formats.

  • Kent Johnson C | CLB

Blue Jackets' Kent Johnson: Nets equalizer

Johnson scored a goal, blocked two shots, added two PIM and went plus-2 in Friday's 3-2 overtime win over Utah.

Johnson's goal tied the game at 2-2 at 11:42 of the third period. He has three goals and four assists during his active six-game point streak. The 22-year-old continues to carve out solid numbers on offense from a second-line role. He's up to 15 tallies, 18 helpers, 72 shots on net and a minus-3 rating through 38 appearances. He's also up to 15 blocked shots, seven of which have come over the last eight outings, but he's not typically a big producer outside of offense.

  • Avalanche's Juuso Parssinen: Gathers helper in win

Parssinen notched an assist in Friday's 5-0 win over the Blues.

Parssinen has picked up a goal and two assists over his last four contests. He appears to be getting a little more comfortable in a second-line role, though his ice time remains limited on occasion -- he saw just 9:38 on Friday despite the Avalanche being firmly in control from the first drop of the puck. Parssinen is now at 10 points, 19 shots on net, 55 hits and a minus-6 rating through 31 appearances between Colorado and Nashville this season.

  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Supplies power-play helper

MacKinnon provided a power-play assist, four shots on goal and two hits in Friday's 5-0 win over the Blues.

MacKinnon has four helpers over his last three games, but he hasn't scored in that span. The superstar center ends January with 18 points over 15 appearances -- on a points-per-game basis, it's his worst month of the campaign, though it wasn't a bad one by any stretch of the imagination. He's at 19 goals, 60 helpers, 209 shots on net, 46 blocked shots, 27 hits and a plus-16 rating through 53 contests.

  • Martin Necas C | COL

Avalanche's Martin Necas: Scores first goal with new team

Necas scored a goal on four shots in Friday's 5-0 win over the Blues.

Necas already has five points over four outings with the Avalanche, with his goal Friday being his first since he was dealt from the Hurricanes. The 26-year-old has taken over the top-line spot of the player he was traded for, Mikko Rantanen, and it's worked well for Necas as he quickly builds chemistry with Nathan MacKinnon. For the season, Necas has 17 goals, 43 assists, 124 shots on net, 43 hits and a plus-1 rating over 53 appearances.

  • John Tavares C | TOR

Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Could play Saturday

Tavares (lower body) is expected to return to the lineup Saturday versus the Oilers, Mark Masters of TSN reports.

Tavares resumed skating earlier this week and looks on track to return from a six-game absence. Matthew Knies (upper body) is also likely to return, so the Maple Leafs will need to make two roster moves to free up roster spots if both players are activated.

  • Filip Chytil C | VAN

Canucks' Filip Chytil: Highlights return for J.T. Miller

Chytil was traded to the Canucks from the Rangers on Friday, along with Victor Mancini and a protected first-round draft pick, in exchange for J.T. Miller, Erik Brannstrom and Jackson Dorrington, Larry Brooks of the New York Post and Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet report.

Chytil will be the NHL player to replace Miller on the Canucks' roster. In his own right, Chytil has performed at a decent level on the Rangers' third line, earning 20 points over 41 appearances this season. He topped out at 45 points over 74 games in 2022-23. Once Chytil joins the Canucks, likely ahead of Sunday's game versus the Red Wings, he'll compete with Pius Suter for second-line minutes. More playing time could help Chytil's scoring output, but it likely won't elevate him to the level of widespread fantasy relevance.

  • J.T. Miller C | NYR

Rangers' J.T. Miller: Dealt to Blueshirts

Miller was traded to the Rangers from the Canucks on Friday, along with Erik Brannstrom and Jackson Dorrington, in exchange for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini and a protected first-round draft pick, per Larry Brooks of the New York Post and Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Miller is the headliner of the trade, and he will reunite with the team that drafted him 15th overall in 2011. The Canucks had been backed into a corner with Miller unable to coexist with Elias Pettersson anymore, and the Rangers clearly wanted to upgrade their forward depth, which is accomplished in this deal despite a somewhat steep price. It's expected Miller will be able to get from Dallas -- where the Canucks were scheduled to play Friday -- to Boston ahead of Saturday's 3:30 p.m. Eastern start time for the Rangers' game against the Bruins. Miller has nine goals and 35 points over 40 appearances this season.

  • J.T. Miller C | NYR

Canucks' J.T. Miller: Will not play ahead of trade

Miller will be scratched Friday versus the Stars for trade-related reasons, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Miller's name has been in trade talks for weeks, but there is enough traction now to sit him out. Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports Miller has been asked to waive his no-trade clause and will do so to clear a move to the Rangers. The return is not yet known, but it will be a reunion for Miller and the Rangers after he played parts of his first six NHL seasons with the franchise.
