  • Tyler Motte C | DET

Red Wings' Tyler Motte: Departs Tuesday's game

Motte (upper body) won't return to Tuesday's game versus the Sharks.

Motte was hurt in a collision along the boards in the second period. The 29-year-old forward has earned two helpers over six outings in December, but he's not particularly noticeable for fantasy. He should be considered day-to-day ahead of the start of the Red Wings' road trip, which begins against the Panthers on Thursday.

  • Filip Chytil C | VAN

Rangers' Filip Chytil: Ready to rock

Chytil (upper body) is set to play Tuesday versus the Avalanche, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.

Chytil missed two games with the injury. The 25-year-old center will return to his usual third-line role, and he'll be flanked by Chris Kreider and Arthur Kaliyev for this contest. Chytil had four goals and one assist over five games prior to his injury, so his fantasy managers will hope the absence didn't cost him too much momentum.

  • Jack Eichel C | LV

Golden Knights' Jack Eichel: Set to return

Eichel (illness) is expected to play Tuesday versus the Predators, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

It looks like Eichel's absence will be limited to one game after he sat out Sunday against the Wild. The 28-year-old should resume his top-line role and retake his spot on the first power-play unit. Cole Schwindt is expected to exit the lineup.

  • Noah Philp C | CAR

Oilers' Noah Philp: Summoned from AHL

Philp was recalled from AHL Bakersfield on Tuesday.

Philp has nine goals and 17 points in 28 AHL appearances this season. He has one assist, four shots on goal, one hit and one blocked shot in three NHL outings this campaign. Philp will be an option for Wednesday's matchup versus Minnesota.

  • Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Out of action Tuesday

Pageau (illness) won't play Tuesday versus the Senators, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.

Pageau will miss at least one game while under the weather. Marc Gatcomb was called up from AHL Bridgeport under emergency conditions Tuesday and will make his NHL debut.

  • Bruins' Charlie Coyle: Slated to play

Coyle (illness) is expected to play Tuesday versus the Lightning, Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic reports.

Coyle was deemed a game-time decision earlier in the day but looks fine to play. The 32-year-old is likely to play in his usual third-line role. Oliver Wahlstrom is projected to come out of the lineup Tuesday while Matthew Poitras will also suit up after his call-up earlier in the day.

  • Lightning's Brayden Point: Not playing Tuesday

Point missed a team meeting and won't play Tuesday versus the Bruins, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

This is likely to be a one-game absence for Point as head coach Jon Cooper sends a message on accountability. Jack Finley is projected to play, while Anthony Cirelli and Nick Paul figure to receive a larger share of ice time in Point's absence.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Activated from IR

Malkin (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Tuesday, per the NHL media site.

Pittsburgh assigned Jesse Puljujarvi to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in a corresponding move. After missing the last four games, Malkin will return to the second line and second power-play unit versus Seattle on Tuesday. He has amassed eight goals, 32 points, 71 shots on net, 29 blocked shots and 20 hits across 41 appearances this season.

  • Marc Gatcomb C | NYI

Islanders' Marc Gatcomb: Called up Tuesday

Gatcomb was recalled under emergency conditions ahead of Tuesday's matchup with Ottawa.

Gatcomb's emergency recall would seem to suggest there is a potential illness or injury impacting one of New York's forwards -- possibly a center given Gatcomb's natural position. Unfortunately for fantasy players, the notoriously tight-lipped Isles are unlikely to offer more details prior to puck drop. If a forward has to miss out, Gatcomb would likely be pressed into the lineup to make his NHL debut Tuesday.

  • Rangers' Benoit-Olivier Groulx: Returns to minors

Groulx was sent to AHL Hartford on Tuesday, per the NHL media site.

Groulx has not made an appearance for the Rangers this season. Chris Kreider (upper body) was activated from injured reserve in a corresponding move. Groulx will reunite with the Wolf Pack, where he's produced 11 goals and 29 points across 32 contests in 2024-25.
