  • Penguins' Rickard Rakell: Picks up helper in overtime loss

Rakell notched an assist, two shots on goal, two blocked shots and a minus-3 in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Hurricanes.

Rakell was in the red for plus-minus for a fifth straight game -- he has four points and a minus-8 rating in that span. As long as his offense stays steady, everything else is forgivable. The 31-year-old forward is at 33 points (nine on the power play), 98 shots on net, 69 hits, 44 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over 41 appearances this season.

  • Jordan Staal C | CAR

Hurricanes' Jordan Staal: Deals assist Sunday

Staal logged an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Penguins.

Staal helped out on the second of Seth Jarvis' two goals in the second period. It's been six games since Staal's last goal, but he has two assists over his last three contests. The veteran center is up to 16 points, 55 shots on net, 62 hits and a plus-5 rating over 40 outings this season. While he plays on the third line, he's seen a bump in ice time lately at the expense of Jesperi Kotkaniemi.

  • Martin Necas C | COL

Hurricanes' Martin Necas: Contributes assist in overtime win

Necas notched an assist and two shots on goal in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Penguins.

Necas has a goal and two assists over his last four games. He helped out on a Sebastian Aho tally in overtime to complete this win. Necas looks to be bouncing back from his slump over the latter half of December. The 25-year-old forward is up to 15 goals, 32 helpers, 96 shots on net, 30 hits and a plus-1 rating through 40 contests in a top-six role.

  • Seth Jarvis C | CAR

Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Three points in Sunday's win

Jarvis scored twice on three shots, added an assist, logged two hits and went plus-2 in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Penguins.

Jarvis ended a seven-game goal drought with a pair of second-period tallies, and he also helped out on Jalen Chatfield's goal in that frame. This was Jarvis' sixth multi-point effort, two of which have come over his last five games. For the season, the 22-year-old winger is at 11 goals, 18 assists, 88 shots on net, 52 hits and a minus-2 rating through 33 appearances, mainly in a top-six role.

  • Rangers' Vincent Trocheck: Back on scoresheet in victory

Trocheck netted an even-strength goal on four shots in Sunday's 6-2 win over Chicago.

Trocheck deflected an Artemi Panarin shot past Arvid Soderblom late in the second period to give the Rangers a 5-1 lead. The 31-year-old Trocheck added two PIM, three blocked shots, two hits and a plus-1 rating to round out a useful fantasy performance. The Pittsburgh native has generally been underwhelming this season considering he put up 77 points across 82 regular-season games in 2023-24. On the bright side, Trocheck had his most productive month of the season in December, having provided four goals and seven helpers across 13 outings. Overall, the right-shot center has generated 11 markers and 24 points through 39 appearances.

  • Filip Chytil C | VAN

Rangers' Filip Chytil: Off to great start in 2025

Chytil scored two goals on three shots and went plus-2 in 13:57 of ice time in Sunday's 6-2 win over Chicago.

Chytil gave the Rangers a 3-1 lead early in the middle frame before adding an insurance marker at 8:36 of the third period. This was Chytil's second multi-goal outing of the campaign. The 25-year-old has picked up the pace lately -- he's riding a four-game point streak consisting of four goals and one assist. Chytil is occupying a middle-six role in addition to a spot on the No. 2 power-play unit, and through 32 appearances this season, the left-shot center has provided 10 goals, 17 points and a plus-8 rating.

  • Penguins' Philip Tomasino: Moves to IR

Tomasino (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Sunday.

Pittsburgh activated Kris Letang (lower body) from the IR list in a corresponding move. A timeline for Tomasino's return is unclear, but he is week-to-week and will miss Sunday's matchup versus Carolina. He has compiled four goals, eight points, 50 shots on net, 12 blocked shots and 22 hits in 27 appearances between Pittsburgh and Nashville this season. Anthony Beauvillier will replace Tomasino in Sunday's lineup.

  • Hockey Club's Alex Kerfoot: Picks up helper Saturday

Kerfoot notched an assist in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Stars.

Kerfoot has three points over his last four games. The 30-year-old has picked up the pace a bit on offense but remains in a fourth-line role, so he may not be able to sustain his recent play over a longer stretch. For the season, he's collected 15 points, 53 shots on net, 26 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating through 39 appearances.

  • Hockey Club's Nick Bjugstad: Collects assist in overtime loss

Bjugstad notched an assist, five shots on goal and four hits in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Stars.

Bjugstad has two helpers over two games in January after being limited to a single assist in December. The 32-year-old center's lack of offense hasn't cost him a spot in the lineup, but he has been limited to the third line and second power-play unit. He has a modest 10 points with 53 shots on net, 47 hits, 19 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating through 31 appearances this season.

  • Matt Duchene C | DAL

Stars' Matt Duchene: Contributes two helpers

Duchene logged two assists and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over Utah.

Duchene has three multi-point efforts over his last four games, earning two goals and five helpers in that span. The 33-year-old slumped for most of December while losing his primary linemates Tyler Seguin (hip) and Mason Marchment (upper body) to injury. Duchene's game has been revitalized by Jamie Benn and Wyatt Johnston, and while the Stars' depth is being tested, the team's top six has risen to the occasion. Duchene is at 37 points, 69 shots on net and a plus-10 rating through 38 appearances.
