  • Jets' Mason Appleton: Set to miss time

Head coach Scott Arniel announced Monday that Appleton is week-to-week with a lower-body injury, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.

Appleton didn't suit up in Monday's 3-0 win over Nashville, and it's now known why. The 28-year-old's ice time didn't drop in Saturday's 4-2 win over Ottawa, so it's unclear when he picked up the injury. David Gustafsson will likely receive more consistent playing time while Appleton is sidelined. Dominic Toninato was also recalled from AHL Manitoba on Monday.

  • Craig Smith C | DET

Blackhawks' Craig Smith: Good to go Tuesday

Smith (back) will return to the lineup Tuesday against the Blues, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports.

Smith was placed on injured reserve Dec. 20, retroactive to Dec. 12, but he'll make his return for the Winter Classic at Wrigley Field. The right-shot forward has missed eight consecutive games and nine of the past 10. Smith will more than likely serve in a fourth-line capacity Tuesday.

  • Ivan Ivan C | COL

    Avalanche's Ivan Ivan: Being evaluated

Ivan (upper body) didn't participate in Monday's practice because he is still being evaluated, Corey Masisak of The Denver Post reports.

Ivan likely won't be an option for Tuesday's matchup against Winnipeg, but a timeline for his return is unclear beyond that. He has five goals, eight points and 34 shots on net across 37 appearances this season. Jonathan Drouin (upper body) will replace Ivan in Tuesday's lineup.

  • Golden Knights' Tanner Laczynski: Reassigned to AHL

Laczynski was loaned to AHL Henderson on Monday.

In a corresponding move, Vegas recalled Jonas Rondbjerg from the minors. Laczynski hasn't earned a point in five NHL appearances this season while posting one shot on goal and two blocked shots. He has six goals and 13 assists in 17 AHL outings during the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Cody Glass C | NJ

Penguins' Cody Glass: Adds power-play helper

Glass logged a power-play assist and three shots on goal in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Islanders.

Glass ended a six-game point drought with the helper on Evgeni Malkin's third-period tally. The 25-year-old Glass remains in a third-line role, but he has a spot on the power play that could help him get on track on offense. The center is at eight points, 36 shots on net, 16 hits, 13 blocked shots and a minus-10 rating through 25 outings overall, so he'll have to show more consistent scoring to be a factor in many fantasy formats.

  • Penguins' Philip Tomasino: Earns two power-play assists

Tomasino recorded a pair of power-play assists in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Islanders.

This was Tomasino's first multi-point effort as a Penguin. The 23-year-old forward has earned seven points and 28 shots on net since he was dealt to Pittsburgh by Nashville. For the season, he has eight points, 45 shots, 21 hits and a minus-4 rating over 25 appearances while often filling a middle-six role, though his increase in power-play time with the Penguins has allowed him to be more productive.

  • Connor Brown RW | NJ

Oilers' Connor Brown: Records assist in loss

Brown notched an assist in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Ducks.

Brown has a helper in three straight contests, and he's earned three goals and five assists over his last eight games. The 30-year-old winger is making the most of his third-line role while serving as a key defensive forward for the Oilers. He's up to 16 points, 53 shots on net, 20 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 36 outings this season, giving him a decent chance of getting back to the 30-point mark for the first time since the 2021-22 campaign with the Senators.

  • Zach Hyman C | EDM

Oilers' Zach Hyman: Collects power-play assist

Hyman notched a power-play assist and went minus-2 in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Ducks.

Hyman's point streak is up to eight games, a span in which he has seven goals and three assists. He's earned four of those points on the power play, where he continues to log time with the first unit. The Oilers struggled with the man advantage early on but are back to being a top-10 team in that regard, with a 23.7 percent success rate on the power play for the season. Hyman is up to 13 goals, eight helpers, eight power-play points, 86 shots on net, 29 hits and a plus-7 rating over 31 appearances.

  • Wild's Frederick Gaudreau: Scores in loss versus Ottawa

Gaudreau scored a goal in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Senators.

Gaudreau scored the opening goal in the latter stages of the first period, but the Wild gave up three unanswered goals the rest of the way, meaning they couldn't extend their winning streak to three games. Gaudreau at least managed to snap his point drought, though, as this goal was the first time he cracked the scoresheet since netting a power-play goal in a 7-1 loss to the Oilers on Dec. 12.

  • Ridly Greig C | OTT

Senators' Ridly Greig: Scores vs. Minnesota

Greig scored a goal in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Wild.

Greig found the twine in the early stages of the second period, giving him five goals in the campaign. He's undoubtedly going through his most productive stretch of the season, though, finding the back of the net in three of his last four contests and cracking the scoresheet four times in the last six.
