  • Kevin Rooney C | CGY

Flames' Kevin Rooney: Rare goal in shootout victoy

Rooney scored a goal in a 4-3 shootout win over the Wild on Saturday.

Rooney put the Flames up 1-0 at the 15:00 mark of the first period with a great tip over Filip Gustavsson's right pad. The 31-year-old Rooney has two goals in 13 games this season in a fourth-line role. He has played 273 NHL games for the Devils, Rangers and Flames over nine seasons. He has no fantasy merit, but he's living his dream.

  • Flames' Yegor Sharangovich: Goals in back-to-back games

Sharangovich scored a power-play goal Saturday in a 4-3 shootout win over Minnesota.

Last year's 31-goal scorer has had a rough start to 2024-25, but he has collected two goals, three points and 11 shots in his past two games. Both of his markers have come on the power play. Sharangovich needs this little run to be a fresh start -- he has just four goals and one assist in 14 games this season.

  • Flames' Martin Pospisil: Snaps 19-game goal drought

Pospisil scored a goal Saturday in a 4-3 shootout win over the Wild.

Pospisil put the Flames up 2-1 on the power play late in the second period when he redirected Nazem Kadri's slap pass past Filip Gustavsson's outstretched pad. The 25-year-old Pospisil ended his 19-game goal drought with his second tally of 2024-25. It's been a productive week for him, as he also snapped a 15-game point slump with an assist in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout win over the Islanders. Pospisil isn't as good as his three-game, five-point streak to start the season, but he's not as bad as his recent struggles. Wait to see what Pospisil can do over the next week before considering him as a waiver-wire option.

  • Marco Rossi C | MIN

Wild's Marco Rossi: Game taking another step forward

Rossi scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to Calgary.

Rossi was Mr. Clutch, scoring a five-hole goal with 34 seconds left in the third period to force overtime. He's taken the next step this season after putting up 40 points in 82 regular-season games in 2023-24. So far, Rossi has 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) and 37 shots in 20 appearances this campaign, and he's starting to contribute on the power play. His assist came with the man advantage, where he has three points in his last seven outings. He won't deliver many hits or blocks, and he's still working at improving on faceoffs, but Rossi might be on the verge of fulfilling his draft-day promise as a top-10 pick.

  • Nick Paul C | TB

    Lightning's Nick Paul: Out Saturday

Paul (undisclosed) isn't expected to play Saturday versus Dallas, per Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com.

Paul will miss his second straight game. He has five goals and 13 points in 17 appearances in 2024-25. Tampa Bay will dress seven defensemen Saturday, including Darren Raddysh, who was a healthy scratch Thursday against Columbus. Paul's next chance to play will come Monday versus the Avalanche.

  • Flyers' Sean Couturier: Scores against Chicago

Couturier tallied a goal on five shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime triumph over the Blackhawks.

Couturier sparked Philadelphia's comeback when he cut Chicago's lead to 2-1 at the 7:27 mark of the third period. He had one assist in six outings entering Saturday's action. Couturier has chipped in four goals and 10 points over 20 appearances this season.

  • Flyers' Travis Konecny: Two helpers in overtime win

Konecny contributed two assists and two shots on goal in a 3-2 overtime victory against Chicago on Saturday.

In the third period, Konecny had the secondary helper on a goal by Sean Couturier to get the Flyers on the board. The 27-year-old Konecny completed the Flyers' comeback win by setting up Matvei Michkov's game-winner in the extra session. Konecny has 11 goals and 25 points through 21 games this campaign. He has failed to earn at least one point on only one occasion across his last nine outings, collecting six goals and nine helpers during that span.

  • Penguins' Vasily Ponomarev: Heads to minors

Ponomarev was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday.

Ponomarev has no points, four shots, one hit and one block in three appearances with Pittsburgh in 2024-25. He also has an assist in five outings with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Pittsburgh activated Kevin Hayes (upper body) from injured reserve in a corresponding move.

  • Wild's Marat Khusnutdinov: Out due to lower-body injury

Khusnutdinov is a late scratch Saturday against Calgary because of a lower-body injury.

Khusnutdinov has two assists, 18 hits and 15 blocks in 19 appearances in 2024-25. Minnesota will also be without the services of Kirill Kaprizov (lower body) following an injury he suffered against Edmonton on Thursday. Due to the absences of Khusnutdinov and Kaprizov, Travis Boyd will make his Wild debut, and Ben Jones will also draw into the lineup.

  • Ducks' Jansen Harkins: Loaned to AHL affiliate

Harkins was assigned to AHL San Diego on Saturday.

Harkins has one assist, three shots on goal, three blocked shots and 15 hits in six NHL outings this season. His return to the minors could bode well for the availability of Mason McTavish (upper body) or Brock McGinn (lower body) ahead of Monday's matchup against Seattle.
