Matt Duchene C | DAL
Stars' Matt Duchene: Won't play Tuesday
Duchene (upper body) won't play against Columbus on Tuesday, Brien Rea of Victory+ reports.
Duchene is day-to-day while battling a lingering injury. He sat out Thursday's 5-3 loss to Vancouver before returning to the lineup in a 3-1 defeat versus the Blues on Saturday. Duchene has produced one goal, one assist, three shots on net, four blocked shots and two hits across four appearances this season. With Duchene unavailable for at least one game, Justin Hryckowian will probably play against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

Kirby Dach C | MON
Canadiens' Kirby Dach: Nearing return
Head coach Martin St. Louis said Tuesday that Dach (lower body) will travel with the team on its upcoming four-game road trip and is expected to play at some point in the next week, Stu Cowan of The Montreal Gazette reports.
St. Louis' comments point to Dach being unavailable for Wednesday's game in Calgary, but the 24-year-old may be an option for the second half of a back-to-back against the Oilers on Thursday. Montreal's road trip concludes Oct. 28 in Seattle, so Dach isn't too far off from drawing back into the lineup after missing the last two games.

Adam Gaudette C | SJ
Sharks' Adam Gaudette: Dealing with illness, deemed GTD
Gaudette (illness) will be a game-time decision against the Islanders on Tuesday, per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now.
If Gaudette is unable to play Tuesday, Philipp Kurashev will remain in the lineup, as he'll be a healthy scratch if the former can give it a go. The 29-year-old Gaudette has accounted for one goal, two points, six PIM and a minus-5 rating while managing 1:13 of power-play ice time per game across five appearances to start the year.

Jack Eichel C | LV
Golden Knights' Jack Eichel: Sizzling start to season continues
Eichel recorded a goal, took four shots and posted a plus-3 rating in Monday's 4-1 win over the Hurricanes.
Eichel opened the scoring for the Golden Knights midway through the first period. Even though that would be his lone contribution to the scoresheet, it was enough to extend his point streak to seven games, with five multi-point efforts in that stretch. Through his first seven games of the season, Eichel has racked up a league-leading 16 points (six goals, 10 helpers) while adding a plus-7 rating and 34 shots.

Owen Beck C | MON
Canadiens' Owen Beck: Headed back to minors
Beck was reassigned to AHL Laval on Tuesday.
Beck's demotion comes as the team gears up for a four-game road trip, with Joshua Roy recalled from the minors in a corresponding move. In two NHL games this year, the 21-year-old Beck has failed to register a point while logging just one shot. While Beck should remain on the short list of potential call-ups throughout the 2025-26 campaign, he'll likely need some time in the minors to improve his offensive production.

Mark Scheifele C | WPG
Jets' Mark Scheifele: Scores game-winning goal
Scheifele scored a goal in Monday's 2-1 win over the Flames.
Scheifele buried the game-winning goal at 15:06 of the third period after set-ups from Kyle Connor and Josh Morrissey, and it proved to be the goal that extended the Jets' winning run to five contests. The 32-year-old Scheifele is enjoying a blistering start to the season and has notched all of his seven goals during Winnipeg's winning run. On the season, he's up to 10 points in only six outings while also adding four PIM, 19 shots, three hits and a plus-5 rating. There might be some regression in the near future, though, as Scheifele's 36.8 shooting percentage is unsustainable. To put things into context, he set a new career high with a 21.5 shooting percentage for the 2024-25 regular season.

Jonathan Toews C | WPG
Jets' Jonathan Toews: Pots first goal of season
Toews scored a power-play goal in Monday's 2-1 win over the Flames.
Toews netted the equalizer for the Jets at 2:41 of the third period with a tip-in, giving him his first goal of the season. The 37-year-old veteran, who's back in the league after a two-year absence, endured a slow start to the season but seems to be playing better of late, providing four points (one goal, three assists) in his last four games. All but one of those helpers have come on the power play, as his outstanding IQ and vision are valuable assets for the Jets with the man advantage.

Alex Newhook C | MON
Canadiens' Alex Newhook: Two-point night Monday
Newhook produced two assists in Monday's 4-2 win over the Sabres.
Increased depth in Montreal's forward ranks has cost Newhook a regular spot on the second power-play unit to begin the season, but the improved supporting cast has boosted his production. Through seven games, the 24-year-old has a goal and four points while adding eight shots on net, eight hits, four PIM and a plus-4 rating. Newhook has never scored more than 15 goals or 34 points in a season, so his fantasy ceiling is limited, but he could be headed for a career-best campaign in a middle-six role.

Nick Suzuki C | MON
Canadiens' Nick Suzuki: Two helpers in Monday's win
Suzuki picked up two assists in Monday's 4-2 win over the Sabres.
Both helpers came in the third period as Montreal broke open a 1-1 tie. Suzuki has a six-game point streak going after being held scoreless in the Canadiens' opener, piling up a goal and 10 points during his heater with a plus-9 rating.

Sean Couturier C | PHI
Flyers' Sean Couturier: Two more helpers Monday
Couturier collected two assists in Monday's 5-2 win over the Kraken.
The veteran center set up Owen Tippett for tallies in the first and second periods to bookend the scoring on the night. Couturier has caught fire over the last week after getting blanked in the Flyers' first two games of the season, erupting for two goals and seven points in the last four contests with eight shots on net, three hits, two blocked shots, four PIM and a plus-5 rating.
