    Riley Nash: Hangs up skates

Nash announced his retirement from the NHL on Tuesday, per RDS.ca.

Nash didn't play in 2024-25 as a result of a lower-body injury. The 36-year-old garnered 63 goals and 176 points over 628 regular-season games spanning seven clubs. Nash was a first-round selection by the Oilers in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

  • Jack McBain C | UTA

Mammoth's Jack McBain: In the fold long term

McBain signed a five-year, $21.25 million contract with the Mammoth on Monday.

McBain is locked in with the Mammoth on a long-term, five-year deal to avoid arbitration. The 25-year-old had 13 goals and 14 assists in 82 games last season, but offense isn't where he delivers the most value. He's a physical presence in a middle-six role, delivering 291 hits last year, and he will look to continue that moving forward from a similar spot in the lineup.

  • Tyler Johnson: Announces retirement

Johnson announced his retirement from professional hockey Monday.

Johnson spent 13 seasons in the NHL between the Lightning, Blackhawks and Bruins, but he was limited to a career-low nine appearances with the Bruins last year before landing on unconditional waivers. He totaled 193 goals, 240 assists, 591 hits, 313 blocked shots and 250 PIM across 747 regular-season appearances throughout his career.

  • Zac Dalpe C | FLA

    Zac Dalpe: Announces retirement

Dalpe announced his retirement Monday from playing hockey.

Dalpe sustained a knee injury against Springfield on Dec. 18, limiting him to only nine regular-season games with AHL Charlotte in 2024-25. The 35-year-old forward collected 16 goals and 32 points in 168 NHL regular-season appearances with Carolina, Vancouver, Buffalo, Minnesota, Columbus and Florida during his career.

  • Rangers' Brendan Brisson: Inks one-year deal

Brisson signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Rangers on Sunday, per PuckPedia.

Brisson spent much of the 2024-25 regular season in the Golden Knights' organization, and he was dealt to the Rangers in a swap for Reilly Smith in March. The 23-year-old Brisson didn't appear in a game with New York, as he finished out the year with AHL Hartford, posting two goals, four helpers and a minus-9 rating over 16 outings. His new deal is a two-way contract, so he'll likely be limited to time with the Wolf Pack again this coming season, unless injuries open up a spot at the NHL level. The California native will be a restricted free agent after the 2025-26 campaign.

  • Golden Knights' Raphael Lavoie: Lands two-way agreement

Lavoie signed a one-year, two-way contract with Vegas on Sunday, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Lavoie notched 17 goals and 27 points in 42 regular-season appearances for AHL Henderson last campaign. He didn't earn a point in nine NHL games with Vegas during the 2024-25 regular season while posting 10 shots on goal and 16 hits. Lavoie will probably play most of 2025-26 in the minors, but he will compete for a depth role with the Golden Knights at training camp.

  • Marc Gatcomb C | NYI

Islanders' Marc Gatcomb: Grabs one-year contract

Gatcomb signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with the Islanders on Sunday, per Stefen Rosner of NHL.com.

Gatcomb notched nine goals and 17 points in 35 regular-season appearances with AHL Bridgeport in 2024-25. He also collected eight goals, one assist and 149 hits across 39 NHL games with the Islanders during the 2024-25 regular season. The 25-year-old forward will compete for a depth spot with the big club during training camp.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Signs one-year deal

Lapierre signed a one-year, $850,000 contract with the Capitals on Saturday, per PuckPedia.

Lapierre was a restricted free agent following the conclusion of his entry-level deal. He's yet to fully establish himself at the NHL level, logging 31 points in 84 regular-season games over the last four years. He'll be in contention for a bottom-six role in training camp.

  • Avalanche's Alex Barre-Boulet: Pens one-year deal

Barre-Boulet signed a one-year, two-way contract with Colorado on Friday.

Barre-Boulet played two games with Montreal at the start of the 2024-25 campaign, picking up three hits and a minor penalty. The 28-year-old was then placed on waivers and spent the rest of the regular season with AHL Laval, where he managed 22 goals and 63 points in 64 appearances. Expect Barre-Boulet to spend most of the 2025-26 campaign in the minors, barring a slew of injuries up front.

  • Mason Shaw C | WPG

Jets' Mason Shaw: Snags one-year deal

Shaw signed a one-year, two-way contract with Winnipeg on Thursday.

Shaw should have a decent shot at securing a spot on the Opening Night roster, but he's far from a lock considering the two-way nature of his deal. If he does earn a spot, it figures to be in a bottom-six role that is unlikely to come with much, if any, power-play ice time.
