Panthers' Sam Bennett: Gets goal in 4 Nations Face-Off win

Bennett scored a goal in Canada's 3-2 overtime win over the United States at the 4 Nations Face-Off Final on Thursday.

Bennett didn't dress in Canada's first game of the tournament, but he slotted in for Game 2 against Team USA and never sat out again. On the goal, he took a slick feed from Mitch Marner and roofed the puck over Connor Hellebuyck's shoulder from below the left face-off circle. Bennett is a gritty center with 50-point upside. However, he profiles more as a big-game playoff type, rather than as a consistent fantasy performer.

  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Named 4 Nations MVP in Canada's win

MacKinnon scored a goal Thursday in Canada's 3-2 overtime win over the United States in the 4 Nations Face-Off Final.

MacKinnon opened the scoring with a wrister from the point through traffic that Connor Hellebuyck simply couldn't see. Mack led the tournament with four goals (15 shots), and he was named the 4 Nations MVP. MacKinnon is the NHL's leading scorer with 87 points (21 goals, 66 assists) over 57 games, and he's one of the early contenders for the Hart trophy. This could be a season of MVPs for the intense Canadian.

  • Oilers' Connor McDavid: Roofs goal in OT to win 4 Nations

McDavid scored the game-winning goal in Canada's 3-2 overtime victory over the United States in the 4 Nations Face-Off Final on Thursday.

McDavid was alone in the slot when Mitch Marner found him from the left hash marks. McDavid roofed the puck over Connor Hellebuyck's glove to deliver the win, and the 28-year-old McDavid was named the Player of the Game as a result. He finished the tournament with three goals, two assists, 10 shots and one game-winning goal.

  • Zack Bolduc C | MON

Blues' Zachary Bolduc: Recalled from AHL

Bolduc was called up from AHL Springfield on Thursday.

The 21-year-old center was loaned to Springfield at the start of the 4 Nations Face-Off break to get in some extra ice time. Bolduc had a pair of assists during his four-game stint in the AHL. Bolduc has six goals, 12 assists and 59 hits across 46 appearances with the Blues this season.

  • Sharks' Alexander Wennberg: Expected to return Sunday

Wennberg (upper body) will be good to return Sunday versus Calgary, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports Wednesday.

Wennberg has eight goals and 23 points over 52 appearances in 2024-25. He missed the Sharks' previous four games due to the injury. Walker Duehr is projected to be a healthy scratch against the Flames after playing in the Sharks' past seven games.

  • Adam Lowry C | WPG

Jets' Adam Lowry: Set to return Saturday

Lowry (upper body) is expected to be activated off injured reserve and return Saturday versus St. Louis, per Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press on Wednesday.

Lowry has missed the Jets' past eight games due to his injury. He has 11 goals and 26 points over 48 outings in 2024-25. Lowry will likely serve in a middle-six capacity upon his return.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Set to return Saturday

Malkin (lower body) will be activated off injured reserve and play Saturday versus Washington, per Rob Rossi of The Athletic on Wednesday.

Malkin hasn't been in the lineup since Jan. 25, but he's been a full participant over the Penguins' past two practices and stated Wednesday that he's ready to return. The 38-year-old has nine goals and 34 points in 47 appearances in 2024-25. Malkin will likely center the second line Saturday, which might result in Kevin Hayes moving out of the top six.

  • Sharks' Alexander Wennberg: Has chance to play Sunday

Wennberg (upper body) has "one more hurdle to cover" but is likely to play Sunday versus the Flames, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.

Wennberg's recovery has him on track to return shortly -- he has already missed four games. The 30-year-old's status should be updated again in the coming days once he is officially cleared. Wennberg's return should help replenish the Sharks' center depth after they traded Mikael Granlund to the Stars on Feb. 1.

  • Nico Sturm C | MIN

Sharks' Nico Sturm: Probable to play Sunday

Sturm (lower body) is expected to be back in action Sunday versus the Flames, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.

Sturm missed the last eight games prior to the 4 Nations Face-Off. The 29-year-old will need to officially be activated off injured reserve if he is cleared by the Sharks' medical staff ahead of the resumption of the team's schedule.

  • Logan Cooley C | UTA

Hockey Club's Logan Cooley: Practices in non-contact jersey

Cooley (lower body) practiced in a non-contact jersey Tuesday, Brogan Houston of Deseret News reports.

Cooley was initially out indefinitely, but head coach Andre Tourigny indicated the center is now day-to-day. That bodes well for Cooley returning to a top-six role within the next week or two. He has 43 points through 50 contests, putting him one point shy of matching his rookie-year total.
