  • Oilers' Darnell Nurse: Scores go-ahead goal

Nurse scored a goal and went plus-3 in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs.

Nurse had been limited to two assists over his previous nine games. His tally late in the second period gave the Oilers a 3-2 lead, setting the stage for their dominant final frame. Nurse is up to six goals, six helpers, 75 shots on net, 70 blocked shots, 46 hits, 43 PIM and a minus-5 rating over 32 appearances in a top-four role this season.

  • Maple Leafs' Oliver Ekman-Larsson: Snaps five-game point drought

Ekman-Larsson scored a goal Saturday in a 6-3 loss to the Oilers.

He wired a shot glove side from the high slot to put the Leafs up 2-1 early in the second period. It was Ekman-Larsson's first point in six games. He's on a pace that could see him equal his career mark of 55 points, which he set 10 years ago. His success that season came on the strength of power-play production, where he recorded half of his points. Ekman-Larsson is doing it the hard way this year, with just three of his 21 points coming with the man advantage.

  • Sharks' Sam Dickinson: Notches helper Saturday

Dickinson posted an assist, two hits and two blocked shots in Saturday's 6-5 overtime win over the Penguins.

Dickinson had gone 12 games without a point, posting a minus-6 rating and 12 blocked shots in that span. The Sharks have sheltered him on the third pairing, but he's played in all seven games in December since the team hasn't had a back-to-back set yet this month. Dickinson's at three points, 24 shots on net, 22 hits, 22 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating over 26 appearances so far. He's already burned the first year of his entry-level deal, but the 19-year-old's participation in the upcoming World Junior Championship hasn't been decided upon yet. He may benefit from a couple of weeks away from the NHL to build some confidence since he hasn't been logging much ice time or offense in his rookie year.

  • Janis Moser D | TB

Lightning's J.J. Moser: Three points in last two games

Moser scored a goal in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Islanders.

Moser cut in from the left point, took a pass from Nikita Kucherov and ripped a shot past Ilya Sorokin's glove. It tied the game 2-2 early in the third period. Moser now has three points (one goal, two assists) and seven shots in his last two games. He is also plus-3 in that span.

  • Avalanche's Samuel Girard: Dishes two assists

Girard logged two assists and two blocked shots in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Predators.

Girard has earned three helpers over his last two games after going 10 contests without a point. His offense may continue to fluctuate, as the Avalanche's good health on the blue line has Girard in a third-pairing role. The 27-year-old has collected five helpers, 12 shots on net, 21 blocked shots, eight hits and a plus-5 rating across 17 appearances this season.

  • Lightning's Darren Raddysh: Three-game goal streak

Raddysh scored a power-play goal Saturday in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Islanders.

Raddysh one-timed a point shot past Ilya Sorokin in the second period to cut the score to 2-1. His goal streak stands at three games and four goals (one assist). Two of the goals have come with the man advantage. Raddysh continues to excel in the number one role on the blue line in Victor Hedman's (undisclosed) absence.

  • Mammoth's Dmitri Simashev: Adjusting quickly to AHL

Simashev posted three assists and a plus-4 rating in AHL Tucson's 8-7 overtime loss to Bakersfield on Saturday.

Simashev took a couple of games to get acclimated with the Roadrunners, but he's earned five points over his last three outings. The 20-year-old defenseman's stay in the minors will probably be temporary, but the Mammoth are opting for a more veteran core of blueliners for the time being. Simashev had one helper and a minus-9 rating in his first 24 NHL appearances prior to his demotion, but playing in the AHL looks to be getting his confidence up again.

  • Islanders' Matthew Schaefer: Climbing all-time rookie list

Schaefer scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over Tampa Bay.

The Isles were on a 4-on-3 power play, and Schaefer took a return pass from Anthony Duclair in the slot and buried a wrist shot five-hole on Ilya Sorokin. Schaefer tied Rasmus Dahlin (nine in 2018-19 with Buffalo) and Zach Bogosian (nine in 2008-09 with Atlanta) for the NHL's third-highest single-season goal total by a defenseman age 18 or younger.

  • Hurricanes' Domenick Fensore: Racks up three points

Fensore scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Chicago's 4-2 win over Milwaukee on Saturday.

Fensore has been bouncing between levels this season due to the Hurricanes' numerous injuries on the blue line. Following his most recent NHL stint, he returned to the AHL with three scoreless outings before breaking out of the slump Saturday. He's at four goals, 14 helpers and a plus-7 rating across 20 appearances for the Wolves and will be the next man up whenever there's a concern on Carolina's blue line.

  • Sharks' John Klingberg: OT hero in two-goal effort

Klingberg scored two goals, one on the power play and the other the overtime winner, in Saturday's 6-5 victory over Pittsburgh.

With the Sharks down 5-1 in the third period, Klingberg started the biggest late-game comeback in Sharks' history by snapping a shot past Arturs Silovs from the slot. The veteran defenseman then deked past Sidney Crosby at the Pittsburgh blue line and worked a slick give-and-go with Macklin Celebrini in OT to produce the winner. Klingberg has gotten onto the scoresheet in four straight games, racking up four goals and seven points during that heater. His recent offensive surge has accounted for half his 14 points through 24 games this season.
