NHL Player News

  • Will Borgen D | NYR

Rangers' Will Borgen: Game-time decision Thursday

Head coach Mike Sullivan said Thursday that Borgen (lower body) is a game-time decision versus Toronto, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.

Borgen suffered the injury Tuesday versus Edmonton despite playing a season-high 20:32. The 28-year-old blueliner will likely be replaced by Scott Morrow if he is unable to go.

  • Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Two-point effort against Sens

Dahlin notched two power-play assists in Wednesday's 8-4 win over Ottawa.

The Sabres' power play struck three times in total as the team won its first game of the season. Dahlin has been a TOI monster to begin the campaign, averaging 26:15 through four games while seeing shifts in all situations, and he's produced three points (all helpers) with 11 shots on net, seven hits and a minus-4 rating.

  • Senators' Jordan Spence: Three helpers in Wednesday's loss

Spence pocketed three assists while adding two shots on net, four hits, a blocked shot and a plus-3 rating in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to the Sabres.

It was a stunningly effective performance from Spence considering the final score, as he collected his first points as a member of the Senators. The former King was a healthy scratch for the first two games of the season before slotting in Monday in a loss to the Predators, but he led all Ottawa defensemen in even-strength ice time Wednesday at 16:01, and the impressive effort may help the 24-year-old carve out a regular spot on the blue line.

  • Senators' Jake Sanderson: Two-point effort in loss

Sanderson scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to the Sabres.

The 23-year-old blueliner's first tally of the season gave Ottawa a brief 2-1 lead early in the second period, but Buffalo dominated the rest of the way. Sanderson has had a strong start to his 2025-26 campaign, racking up five points in four games with 12 shots on net, seven blocked shots and a plus-1 rating.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Registers helper in win

Seider notched a power-play assist, three hits, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Panthers.

Seider has two helpers over four games this year. While he can offer decent offense for a blueliner, it's his all-around production that elevates his fantasy profile. Seider has already accumulated eight hits, six blocked shots, seven shots on net, two PIM and a plus-1 rating this season. He's topped 200 hits in three straight years and has logged at least 161 blocks in each of his four NHL campaigns.

  • Blues' Colton Parayko: Adds assist Wednesday

Parayko managed an assist and five shots on goal in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Blackhawks.

Parayko has earned two assists across four games to begin 2025-26. The 32-year-old blueliner had a career year with 16 goals and 36 points in 64 regular-season outings in 2024-25, but it's likely asking too much to expect a repeat performance this year. Parayko has also added five hits, 10 blocked shots, 11 shots on net and a plus-1 rating this season, and he should remain a decent source of all-around production even if his offense takes a dip.

  • Tyler Tucker D | STL

Blues' Tyler Tucker: Nets goal Wednesday

Tucker scored a goal and blocked three shots in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Blackhawks.

Tucker scored in the third period, but it was far too late to help the Blues. The defenseman has two points, eight shots on net, six blocked shots, four hits and a minus-2 rating over four appearances to begin 2025-26. Tucker looks to be a bottom-four fixture this year, giving him a good chance to exceed the career-high marks he had in points (seven) and games played (38) during the 2024-25 regular season.

  • Wyatt Kaiser D | CHI

Blackhawks' Wyatt Kaiser: Hands out assist in win

Kaiser notched an assist and added a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Blues.

The helper was Kaiser's first point in five outings this season. He's filled a bottom-four role while adding decent defensive numbers with eight hits, four blocked shots and a plus-5 rating. The 23-year-old defenseman had eight points in 57 contests in 2024-25, and while he'll likely exceed that level of production this year, it would be optimistic to expect him to get to 20 points.

  • Blackhawks' Matt Grzelcyk: Snags helper in win

Grzelcyk registered an assist and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Blues.

Grzelcyk got on the scoresheet for the first time as a Blackhawk when he set up a Lukas Reichel goal in the first period. The 31-year-old Grzelcyk has filled a bottom-four role with some power-play time, and his ice time has been trimmed further by the Blackhawks' decision to dress seven blueliners often in the early going. He's added six blocked shots, five shots on net and a plus-4 rating, so he should continue to be an effective veteran role player this year. However, he'll likely be a few levels below the performance that saw him earn 40 points in 82 games with the Penguins last campaign.

  • Alex Vlasic D | CHI

Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Offers pair of assists

Vlasic notched two assists and two blocked shots in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Blues.

Vlasic set up second-period tallies by Lukas Reichel and Jason Dickinson. The 24-year-old Vlasic has had a quiet start to the season despite playing on the top pairing. His helpers Wednesday were his first points of the season, and he's added eight blocked shots, five hits and a minus-1 rating through four appearances after missing the opener due to a lower-body injury. With Sam Rinzel and Artyom Levshunov handling power-play duties, Vlasic's offense could diminish in 2025-26.
