  • Jake Walman D | EDM

Oilers' Jake Walman: Unavailable for Thursday

Walman (undisclosed) will miss Thursday's clash against the Islanders, according to Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic on Wednesday.

Walman is still expected to make his return soon, likely either Saturday in New Jersey or Sunday in Detroit. The 29-year-old blueliner had seven goals, 40 points, 42 PIM, 184 shots, 57 hits and 145 blocks in 65 regular-season outings between San Jose and Edmonton in 2024-25. He's likely to serve in a top-four capacity and receive some power-play ice time once he's healthy.

  • Capitals' Vincent Iorio: On waivers

Iorio was put on waivers by Washington on Wednesday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Iorio served as a healthy scratch for Washington's first four games of the 2025-26 campaign, so it's not surprising to see him on waivers. He had five goals and 20 points in 67 regular-season outings with AHL Hershey in 2024-25.

  • Panthers' Donovan Sebrango: Claimed off waivers

Sebrango was claimed off waivers by Florida from Ottawa on Wednesday, per Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia.

Sebrango had no points, one shot, five PIM and one hit in two appearances with Ottawa this season before being placed on waivers. He also had 20 points and 79 PIM in 50 regular-season appearances with AHL Belleville in 2024-25. Sebrango will provide Florida with a depth option due to the absence of Dmitry Kulikov, who will miss five months after undergoing surgery for an upper-body injury. Sebrango might alternate between serving on the third pairing and being a healthy scratch with his new team.

  • Flames' MacKenzie Weegar: Pockets helper in loss

Weegar notched an assist, two hits, two blocked shots and two PIM in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Golden Knights.

The Flames have scored nine goals in four games, and Weegar's helper Tuesday was his first point. He's added 14 hits, six blocked shots, 18 PIM and a minus-4 rating. The 31-year-old will be a top-four fixture throughout the campaign, and he'll add plenty of production in the physical categories. His offense is likely to depend on the Flames' play as a whole, particularly on the power play, where he is occupying a spot on the first unit.

  • Golden Knights' Jeremy Lauzon: Draws first assist with new team

Lauzon posted an assist and seven hits in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Flames.

With the helper, Lauzon has already matched his point total from 28 games last year, doing so in just four appearances to start 2025-26. The heavy-hitting defenseman has added 19 hits, two PIM and four blocked shots. He's on the third pairing and averaging 16:16 of ice time, so don't expect a major breakout on offense.

  • Kraken's Ryan Lindgren: Slings helper Tuesday

Lindgren posted an assist in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Canadiens.

Lindgren has opened the season in a top-four role to begin his time with the Kraken. He has a helper, one shot on net, two hits and nine blocked shots through three outings. The 27-year-old shutdown defender will probably be a regular in the lineup throughout the year, but his role is likely to shrink once Ryker Evans (upper body) is ready to return from injured reserve.

  • Kraken's Jamie Oleksiak: Deposits first goal

Oleksiak scored a goal on two shots and blocked three shots in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Canadiens.

Oleksiak doesn't get involved much on offense, though he can put up points in small bursts. The 32-year-old blueliner has a goal, five shots on net, four hits, seven blocked shots and four PIM through three contests so far. He plays a physical game and could have appeal in banger leagues.

  • Josh Mahura D | SEA

Kraken's Josh Mahura: Adds helper in overtime loss

Mahura posted an assist, two hits and two PIM in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Canadiens.

Mahura has gotten a chance to play regularly due to the absence of Ryker Evans (upper body) to start the season. Over three outings, Mahura has a helper, four shots on net, six hits, three blocked shots and a plus-2 rating. He'll feature in a third-pairing role as long as he stays in the lineup.

  • Panthers' Dmitry Kulikov: Will miss approximately five months

Kulikov underwent surgery for his upper-body injury and is expected to be shelved for at least five months, Sean Shapiro of DLLS Sports reports Wednesday.

Kulikov's extended absence is another significant injury blow to a Panthers team that is already missing forwards Aleksander Barkov (knee) and Matthew Tkachuk (groin). At this point, the veteran Kulikov could be out of the lineup until mid-March. With Kulikov unavailable for the last two games, Uvis Balinskis has been skating on the third pairing.

  • Will Borgen D | NYR

Rangers' Will Borgen: Managing lower-body injury

The Rangers announced Wednesday that Borgen is being evaluated for a lower-body injury, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports.

Borgen saw a season-high 20:32 of ice time during Tuesday's loss to Edmonton, but he's apparently dealing with a lower-body issue following the matchup. It's not yet clear whether he'll be available for Thursday's game in Toronto, but Connor Mackey and Scott Morrow are candidates to enter the lineup if Borgen is sidelined.
