Louie Belpedio D | PHI
Capitals' Louis Belpedio: Waived Wednesday
Belpedio was put on waivers by Washington on Wednesday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Belpedio had five goals, 28 points and 88 PIM across 66 regular-season appearances with AHL Lehigh Valley in 2024-25. It's possible that Washington will summon Belpedio at some point during 2025-26 to serve as a part of the fourth line, but it wouldn't be surprising if the 29-year-old spends the full campaign in the minors.

William Lagesson D | DET
Red Wings' William Lagesson: Placed on waivers
Lagesson was put on waivers by Detroit on Wednesday, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
During the 2024-25 regular season, Lagesson had an assist in seven games with Detroit as well as three goals and nine points across 23 outings with AHL Grand Rapids. The 29-year-old is expected to rejoin the Griffins if he clears waivers, but he might get another chance with Detroit at some point during the 2025-26 campaign.

Andreas Englund D | NSH
Predators' Andreas Englund: Waived Wednesday
Englund was waived by Nashville on Wednesday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Englund had a goal, three points and 48 PIM across 35 regular-season appearances between the Kings and Predators in 2024-25. The 29-year-old defenseman will probably be among Nashville's top call-up options from the minors during the regular season if he successfully clears waivers.

Ian Mitchell D | DET
Red Wings' Ian Mitchell: Put on waivers
Mitchell was placed on waivers by Detroit on Wednesday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Mitchell had four goals and 27 points across 47 outings with AHL Providence as well as an assist in 15 appearances with Boston during the 2024-25 regular season. Mitchell is expected to report to AHL Grand Rapids if he goes unclaimed, but it wouldn't be surprising if the 26-year-old gets a chance with the Red Wings at some point during the campaign.

Kale Clague D | WPG
Jets' Kale Clague: Waived Wednesday
Clague was put on waivers by Winnipeg on Wednesday, per Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press.
Clague had 10 goals, 39 points and 32 PIM across 69 regular-season outings with AHL Rochester in 2024-25. Although he does have 94 career NHL regular-season games on his resume, Clague is likely to spend most, if not all, of the upcoming campaign in the minors.

Jeremy Lauzon D | LV
Golden Knights' Jeremy Lauzon: Won't face Colorado
Lauzon (undisclosed) is expected to miss Wednesday's preseason game against Colorado, per Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Lauzon's final opportunity to get into an exhibition game will come Friday versus San Jose. If he's available for Vegas' season opener versus LA on Oct. 8, then Lauzon might serve on the third pairing. If he's not an option, then Ben Hutton might fill the void.
-
Samuel Girard D | PIT
Avalanche's Samuel Girard: Won't face Vegas
Girard will miss Wednesday's preseason game against Vegas, per Aarif Deen of Colorado Hockey Now.
Girard hasn't gotten into any preseason action this year, but he might still be an option to play in Saturday's exhibition game against Dallas. Provided he's healthy, the 27-year-old might be a part of the top four for the Avalanche's season opener versus the Kings on Tuesday. Girard had three goals, 24 points, 62 hits and 111 blocks across 73 regular-season appearances in 2024-25.

Joe Hicketts D | LA
Kings' Joe Hicketts: Designated for waivers
Hicketts was waived by Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Hicketts hasn't featured in an NHL game since 2019-20, back when he was with the Red Wings. At 29 years of age, the blueliner seems unlikely to ever become a full-time NHL option. Instead, look for Hicketts to ply his trade in the minors with AHL Ontario this year.
-
Samuel Bolduc D | NYI
Kings' Samuel Bolduc: Placed on waivers
Bolduc was put on waivers by the Kings on Wednesday.
Bolduc had nine goals and 35 points in 69 regular-season outings with AHL Bridgeport in 2024-25. Although the 24-year-old defenseman is set to start the upcoming campaign with AHL Ontario, Bolduc might be among LA's top call-up options if the Kings need help on the blue line.

John Klingberg D | SJ
Sharks' John Klingberg: Slated to play against Ducks
Klingberg (upper body) is expected to be in action versus Anaheim on Wednesday, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
Klingberg rejoined the team at practice last Thursday, so it seems he's back to 100 percent. With the blueliner suiting up in a preseason tilt, it should clear the way for him to join the team for Opening Night against the Golden Knights on Oct. 9. Considering Klingberg has been limited to just 25 regular-season games over the last two years, it's hard to predict what version of him you are getting. Still, if he stays healthy, which is a big if, Klingberg could get back to being a 35-40 point producer.
