John Klingberg D | SJ
Sharks' John Klingberg: Slated to play against Ducks
Klingberg (upper body) is expected to be in action versus Anaheim on Wednesday, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
Klingberg rejoined the team at practice last Thursday, so it seems he's back to 100 percent. With the blueliner suiting up in a preseason tilt, it should clear the way for him to join the team for Opening Night against the Golden Knights on Oct. 9. Considering Klingberg has been limited to just 25 regular-season games over the last two years, it's hard to predict what version of him you are getting. Still, if he stays healthy, which is a big if, Klingberg could get back to being a 35-40 point producer.

Lucas Carlsson D | SJ
Sharks' Lucas Carlsson: Unavailable Wednesday
Carlsson (lower body) won't play in Wednesday's preseason game against Anaheim, per Max Miller of NHL.com.
Carlsson's next opportunity to get into an exhibition game will come Friday against the Golden Knights. Provided that he's healthy enough to do so, Carlsson is likely to start the season in the minors.

Ryker Evans D | SEA
Kraken's Ryker Evans: Expected to miss 6-8 weeks
The Kraken announced Wednesday that Evans is expected to miss approximately 6-8 weeks due to an upper-body injury.
Evans inked a two-year contract with the Kraken in August, but he'll have to miss the start of the 2025-26 regular season due to his injury. With Evans likely out until at least mid-November, Josh Mahura and Ville Ottavainen are candidates to see additional work early in the year. Still, the Kraken will likely get a boost since Brandon Montour (ankle) is on track to be ready for Opening Night on Oct. 9 versus Anaheim.

Simon Benoit D | TOR
Maple Leafs' Simon Benoit: Making progress
Benoit (upper body) is participating in Wednesday's practice and is no longer wearing a non-contact jersey, per David Alter of The Hockey News.
Benoit had previously skated with the team while being ineligible for contact, so this is a key step in the right direction. That said, it remains unclear if Benoit will play in either of Toronto's final preseason games against Detroit on Thursday or Saturday. Benoit will likely have a third-pairing role if he's available for Toronto's regular-season opener against Montreal on Oct. 8.

Luke Hughes D | NJ
Devils' Luke Hughes: Secures seven-year deal
Hughes agreed to terms on a seven-year, $63 million contract with New Jersey on Wednesday.
Hughes and the Devils were finally able to resolve the contract dispute that kept the defenseman out for the entirety of the preseason. It's possible the 22-year-old New Hampshire native will still see action against the Flyers on Saturday in the preseason finale. Hughes has reached the 40-point threshold in each of his first two full NHL seasons and shows no sign of slowing down heading into 2025-26.

Owen Power D | BUF
Sabres' Owen Power: Out Wednesday
Power, who is dealing with a minor strain, won't participate in Wednesday's preseason game against Pittsburgh.
Power is day-to-day due to the injury, so he still might be an option for Friday's exhibition tilt against the Penguins. Provided he's healthy, Power is expected to start 2025-26 as part of the Sabres' top four. If he isn't available for the start of the regular season, then that would increase the chances of Jacob Bryson dressing for Buffalo's season opener against the Rangers on Oct. 9.

Alex Gagne D | COL
Avalanche's Alex Gagne: Back in AHL
Gagne was reassigned to AHL Colorado following Tuesday's preseason game versus the Golden Knights.
Gagne was called up earlier in the day. The 23-year-old defenseman was always likely to be sent back to the Eagles, though he could be recalled again for one of the Avalanche's last two preseason games.

Kyle Burroughs D | LA
Kings' Kyle Burroughs: Sustains injury Tuesday
Burroughs won't return to Tuesday's game versus the Mammoth due to an undisclosed injury, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.
The reason for Burroughs' departure was not revealed at the time of the announcement. The 30-year-old defenseman is not a lock for the Kings' roster, though if the injury is bad enough, he could end up on injured reserve rather than on waivers. Burroughs can be considered day-to-day ahead of Thursday's rematch with the Mammoth.
-
Ronnie Attard D | COL
Avalanche's Ronnie Attard: Leaves Tuesday's contest
Attard (lower body) won't return to Tuesday's preseason game versus the Golden Knights, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports.
Attard was called up earlier in the day to play in the exhibition contest. However, if his injury is significant enough, he may be up with the Avalanche on season-opening injured reserve. Attard's playing time is expected to be with AHL Colorado this year.

Tyler Kleven D | OTT
Senators' Tyler Kleven: Not playing Tuesday
Kleven (undisclosed) is not expected to play in Tuesday's preseason game versus the Canadiens, Steve Warne of The Hockey News reports.
Kleven traveled with the Senators for neutral-site games in Quebec City, but he'll ultimately end up not playing in either of the two contests. The 23-year-old will have two more chances to play during the preseason -- Thursday versus the Blues or Saturday versus the Canadiens.
