Noah Dobson D | MON
Canadiens' Noah Dobson: Still sidelined Tuesday
Dobson (groin) will not be in the lineup against the Senators on Tuesday, Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Dobson has technically been classified as day-to-day, but his continued absence doesn't bode well for his availability heading into Opening Night against the Maple Leafs on Oct. 8. Still, Dobson should run the No. 1 power-play unit once given the all-clear, setting him up to get back over the 40-point threshold after coming up one point short in 2024-25.

Owen Power D | BUF
Sabres' Owen Power: Contending with minor strain
Head coach Lindy Ruff conveyed Tuesday that Power is dealing with a minor strain and is day-to-day, according to Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News.
Ruff didn't rule out Power from suiting up in Wednesday's preseason game versus Pittsburgh, but it seems unlikely that the 22-year-old defenseman will be available for that matchup. It's unclear if Power's strain is related to the lower-body injury that kept him out for the last three games of the 2024-25 campaign, but his status will be worth monitoring ahead of the Sabres' regular-season opener against the Rangers on Oct. 9.

Alex Vlasic D | CHI
Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Not suiting up against Detroit
Vlasic (lower body) will not play in Tuesday's preseason game against the Red Wings, according to Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio.
Vlasic left Sunday's tune-up game against the Wild because of a lower-body injury. The 24-year-old blueliner isn't expected to participate in Tuesday's practice, and it's unclear if he'll be available for Friday or Saturday's exhibition matchups against the Wild and Blues, respectively.

Gavin Bayreuther D | BUF
Hurricanes' Gavin Bayreuther: Waived by Carolina
Bayreuther was placed on the waiver wire by the Hurricanes on Tuesday.
Bayreuther will report to AHL Chicago if he goes unclaimed on waivers. The 31-year-old defenseman played overseas last year, generating five goals, 23 points and plus-5 rating over 52 regular-season games with Lausanne HC in Switzerland's National League.
-
Oliver Kylington D | CAR
Oliver Kylington: Released from tryout
Kylington was released from his professional tryout by the Hurricanes on Tuesday.
Kylington has struggled to secure full-time opportunities in the NHL since missing the entire 2022-23 season, appearing in just 52 regular-season games over the last two years. Still, the 28-year-old blueliner should find an interested NHL team out there somewhere if he is willing to accept a two-way contract.

Jalen Chatfield D | CAR
Hurricanes' Jalen Chatfield: Wearing regular jersey
Chatfield (undisclosed) took the ice in a regular sweater Tuesday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Chatifled wasn't originally expected to be in the lineup during the preseason, but the fact that he was cleared for contact could see him get into Saturday's final preseason game versus the Predators. Heading into the 2025-26 campaign, the 29-year-old Michigan native should be capable of pushing for the 20-point threshold but doesn't offer enough category coverage to be more than a low-end fantasy option.
-
Jaccob Slavin D | CAR
Hurricanes' Jaccob Slavin: Skating in non-contact jersey
Slavin (undisclosed) was on the ice in a non-contact sweater Tuesday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Slavin isn't expected to participate in any preseason games as he works his way back from injury, but the fact that he was on the ice is a step in the right direction. The veteran blueliner still has some time to get to 100 percent prior to Opening Night against the Devils on Oct. 9. While Slavin is unlikely to offer any power-play production -- he hasn't registered a point with the man advantage since 2021-22 -- he should still be capable of challenging for the 30-point threshold.

Vince Dunn D | SEA
Kraken's Vince Dunn: Exits Monday's game against Calgary
Dunn (undisclosed) will not return to Monday's preseason game versus the Flames, Scott Malone of Root Sports reports.
Dunn served a penalty for roughing after taking a high stick from Calgary's Martin Pospisil and didn't play a shift after that encounter, according to Kate Shefte of The Seattle Times. More information should be known about Dunn's status ahead of the Kraken's preseason finale Wednesday against the Oilers, so consider him day-to-day for now.
-
Bowen Byram D | BUF
Sabres' Bowen Byram: Ruled out Wednesday
Byram (undisclosed) won't suit up in Wednesday's exhibition contest versus the Penguins, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
While Byram will not be available Wednesday against Pittsburgh, head coach Lindy Ruff said Monday that the left-shot blueliner will likely skate on his own Tuesday. It remains to be seen if the 24-year-old Byram will get into Buffalo's last preseason game in Pittsburgh on Friday. The 2019 first-round pick signed a two-year, $12.5 million contract in July, so he'll be a key player in the top four when healthy in 2025-26.

Jeremy Lauzon D | LV
Golden Knights' Jeremy Lauzon: Won't suit up Tuesday
Lauzon (undisclosed) will not be available for Tuesday's preseason game against Colorado, according to Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
It's unclear if Lauzon will suit up in the remainder of the preseason, but head coach Bruce Cassidy said Monday that the 28-year-old defenseman is progressing. If Lauzon isn't ready for the start of the regular season, Ben Hutton might fill a third-pairing role until the former is at full strength.
