  • Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Light workload in victory

Ersson made 12 saves in a 3-1 win over New Jersey on Saturday.

Ersson allowed one goal on three shots in the first period before closing the door the rest of the way. The Flyers provided the 25-year-old goalie with plenty of support, blocking 33 shots in Saturday's victory. Ersson has won his last four outings to improve to 13-7-2 this season.

  • Devon Levi G | BUF

Sabres' Devon Levi: Called up Saturday

Levi was recalled from AHL Rochester on Saturday.

Buffalo placed Ryan McLeod (undisclosed) on injured reserve in a corresponding move. The Sabres have just 12 healthy forwards, though seven defensemen could play if Jiri Kulich (lower body) is unavailable during the team's upcoming four-game road trip that starts Monday in Seattle. Levi's presence on the NHL roster suggests he'll be in the mix to start against Seattle on Monday or Vancouver on Tuesday. However, the team has not revealed its goaltending plans yet.

Ducks' John Gibson: In net Saturday

Gibson will defend the road goal against Florida on Saturday, according to Derek Lee of The Hockey News.

Gibson is coming off a 22-save effort in Tuesday's 3-0 loss to Washington. He has a 7-7-2 record with a 2.90 GAA and a .906 save percentage through 18 appearances this season. Florida ranks ninth in the league with 3.17 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Penguins' Joel Blomqvist: Starting in Washington

Blomqvist will guard the road goal versus the Capitals on Saturday, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.

Blomqvist will get the second half of Pittsburgh's back-to-back after Alex Nedeljkovic played in Friday's 5-2 win over Buffalo. The 23-year-old Blomqvist has a 3-5-0 record with a 3.60 GAA and a .904 save percentage in eight NHL appearances this season. Washington sits third in the league with 3.56 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Jake Allen G | NJ

Devils' Jake Allen: Allows two goals in defeat

Allen stopped 15 of 17 shots in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Philadelphia. The third goal was an empty-netter.

At the 12:44 mark of the third period, Allen allowed the game-winner to Bobby Brink during a Philadelphia power play. The 34-year-old Allen has lost his last six outings to drop to 5-8-1 this season. Jacob Markstrom will probably start Sunday's home matchup versus Ottawa in the second half of New Jersey's back-to-back.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Set to face Dallas

Wedgewood is expected to start at home against Dallas on Saturday, Avalanche play-by-play announcer Conor McGahey reports.

Following his activation from injured reserve last Sunday, Wedgewood will make his first appearance since Jan. 2 against Buffalo. He has a 5-4-1 record with a 2.90 GAA and a .900 save percentage in 12 outings this season. However, his lackluster statistics mostly came with Nashville at the start of the campaign. Since being acquired by Colorado on Nov. 30, he has gone 4-2-0 with a 2.35 GAA and a .917 save percentage in seven outings. Dallas will be a challenging adversary to return against, as the Stars rank 10th in goals per game with 3.16 in 2024-25.

  • Stars' Casey DeSmith: Expected to start Saturday

DeSmith is set to start on the road against Colorado on Saturday, per Mike Heika of the Stars' official site.

DeSmith has a 6-5-0 record, 2.32 GAA and .913 save percentage in 13 outings in 2024-25. He stopped 24 of 27 shots en route to a 3-2 loss to Ottawa on Sunday in his last start. Colorado is tied for seventh in the league with 3.30 goals per game this campaign.

  • Senators' Leevi Merilainen: Slated to face Boston

Merilainen is expected to start at home against Boston on Saturday, according to TSN 1200 Ottawa.

It will be Merilainen's fifth straight start, and it's not hard to see why Ottawa keeps going back to him. He's posted a 3-0-1 record, 0.74 GAA and .971 save percentage over that stretch, which gives him a 5-2-1 record with a 1.84 GAA and a .930 save percentage in eight outings this season. If Merilainen keeps playing like this, he might stick with the NHL squad even after Linus Ullmark (back) returns. The Bruins rank 26th in goals per game with 2.65.
