  • Jake Allen G | NJ

Devils' Jake Allen: Surrenders four goals in loss

Allen stopped 25 of 29 shots on goal in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Penguins.

Allen struggled across the first two periods, where he allowed three of the Penguins' four goals. With the loss, he now has an 11-10-1 record with a 2.61 GAA and a .909 save percentage through 23 appearances this season. After a solid start to the campaign, the 35-year-old netminder has a 1-3-1 record over his last five starts. During this time, however, he's maintained a .900 save percentage, which is an encouraging sign for fantasy managers despite his lack of recent appearances in the win column. He has outperformed Jacob Markstrom this season, giving Allen an edge to seize more opportunities down the stretch. In fantasy, he remains a solid option in two-goalie formats. His next chance to bounce back is Sunday against a struggling Jets squad.

  • Juuse Saros G | NSH

Predators' Juuse Saros: Earns SO win

Saros stopped 30 of 31 shots in Thursday's 2-1 shootout win over the Islanders.

Saros has been up and down in terms of the win-loss column and has alternated wins and losses over his last seven outings, going 4-3-0 over that stretch. He's looked okay across the board in terms of peripherals, though, allowing three or fewer goals in six of those outings while posting a 2.99 GAA and an .896 save percentage.

  • Islanders' David Rittich: Makes 26 saves in SO loss

Rittich stopped 26 of 27 shots in Thursday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Predators.

Rittich was beaten with 41 seconds left in the second period via a shorthanded goal scored by Ryan O'Reilly. Despite making 26 saves and stopping two of three shots during the shootout, he was tagged with the loss since the Islanders didn't provide him with enough offense. Rittich has been inconsistent of late, posting a 4-2-2 record across his last eight outings, but his peripherals are strong with a 2.12 GAA and a .917 save percentage over that span.

  • Jet Greaves G | CLB

Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Performance fading with more work

Greaves stopped 21 of 26 shots in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Golden Knights.

Greaves took his third straight loss Thursday, and he's allowed 13 goals on 103 shots in that span. He's started eight consecutive games and has appeared in 14 of Columbus' last 15 contests, so the heavy workload looks to be catching up to him. Greaves is down to 12-12-6 with a 2.74 GAA and a .907 save percentage in 30 outings this season. The 24-year-old is still a better option in goal than Elvis Merzlikins, but head coach Dean Evason may want to build in some rest for Greaves. Both goalies should get a start in a weekend back-to-back featuring games in Colorado on Saturday and Utah on Sunday.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Earns win in relief outing

Schmid stopped 21 of 23 shots in relief of Carter Hart (lower body) in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Blue Jackets.

Hart was injured in the first period, and Schmid put an admirable relief performance to come away with his first win since Dec. 11. The 25-year-old Schmid has been all over the place lately, allowing 14 goals across his last five outings. He's at a 12-4-5 record with a 2.51 GAA and an .894 save percentage over 22 appearances. Schmid will take over as the No. 1 netminder if Hart misses time, though Adin Hill (lower body) would likely move atop the depth chart if he can return soon. The Golden Knights have a back-to-back ahead with a home game Saturday versus the Blues followed by a visit to San Jose on Sunday.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Loses in overtime

Grubauer allowed three goals on 34 shots in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Wild.

Grubauer allowed two goals in the first period, but he settled in after that to give the Kraken time to pull even. Mats Zuccarello scored on him in overtime, ending Grubauer's four-game winning streak, but this was another steady performance for the German netminder. He's posted a save percentage north of .900 in seven of his last eight outings, a level of performance that's pushed him into a timeshare with Joey Daccord. Grubauer is at an 8-3-2 record with a 2.27 GAA and a .925 save percentage over 15 contests. Should the even split of playing time continue, Daccord would get Saturday's road game versus the Hurricanes while Grubauer can be penciled in for a start at Madison Square Garden against the Rangers on Monday.

  • Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: Fourth loss in last five starts

Bobrovsky made 14 saves, allowing five goals, in a 6-2 loss to Montreal on Thursday.

Since the Christmas break, Bobrovsky has gone 1-4-0 in five starts with 18 goals allowed. That's an abysmal .838 save percentage for anyone counting. Pre-Cup victories, Bobrovsky was in the crosshairs of fans who thought his play had dropped off badly. Then came the Stanley Cups, and Bob can do no wrong, except with fantasy managers. While unlikely, this future Hall of Famer probably needs to be benched right now.

  • Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Third straight win

Montembeault made 25 saves in a 6-2 win over Florida on Thursday.

The team in front of him may have played their most complete game all season, and that made Montembeault's job a whole lot easier. He has now rung up three straight wins with seven goals allowed (.917 save percentage). Montembeault is working his way back into a time share in the blue paint, and he's starting to reward patient managers who held onto him as he played his way back into fantasy consideration.

  • Wild's Jesper Wallstedt: Prevails in overtime

Wallstedt stopped 26 of 28 shots in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Kraken.

After losing his last two starts past regulation time, Wallstedt got the better of the Kraken in the extra session Thursday. The 23-year-old also allowed fewer than three goals for the first time in five outings. Wallstedt is up to 12-2-4 with a 2.28 GAA and a .928 save percentage over 18 starts. Should the Wild continue to alternate goalies, Filip Gustavsson is lined up for Saturday's home game versus the Islanders, while Wallstedt would draw the floundering Devils on Monday, also at home.

  • Mads Sogaard G | OTT

Senators' Mads Sogaard: Falters in relief outing

Sogaard allowed five goals on 16 shots in Thursday's 8-2 loss to the Avalanche.

Sogaard relieved Leevi Merilainen during the second period. While Sogaard isn't on the hook for the loss in this outing, his awful performance was what put the game out of reach for the Senators. Merilainen ultimately returned to the crease for the third period. Sogaard's standing within the Senators' organization has been dropping over the years, and the 25-year-old may be shipped back to AHL Belleville due to this outing, though Hunter Shepard isn't much of an upgrade for the backup role. The Senators' next game is Saturday in a tough matchup versus the Panthers.
