  • Jakub Dobes G | MON

Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Between pipes versus Bolts

Dobes will tend the twine at home against the Lightning on Tuesday, Patrick Friolet of RDS reports.

Dobes will be making his ninth appearance in the Habs' last 11 contests, having gone 4-3-1 with an .880 save percentage. With Sam Montembeault still recovering from an illness, it seems Dobes will continue to feature as the No. 1 option in Montreal. Once both netminders are healthy, they will likely move into a split share of the workload.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Exits ice first Tuesday

Silovs was the first goalie to leave the ice Tuesday, Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports, indicating he'll be between the pipes at home versus Anaheim.

Silovs has played in just one of the Penguins' last seven outings, which shouldn't come as a surprise considering he is mired in a four-game losing streak. In those contests, the 24-year-old netminder is sporting a record of 0-2-2 and a 3.85 GAA. With an upcoming back-to-back versus San Jose and Utah on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, Silovs should see some extra work ahead of the Christmas break.

  • Ilya Sorokin G | NYI

Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Exits ice first Tuesday

Sorokin was the first goalie off the ice ahead of Tuesday's home clash with Vegas, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports, indicating he'll be in goal.

Sorokin recorded his third shutout of the season, his last time out, extending his winning streak to three games. The veteran netminder sits behind Jesper Wallstedt for the league lead (four) in shutouts this year. Fantasy managers can likely expect Sorokin to sit near the top of the list of games played this year, which makes him a high-end fantasy option.

  • Senators' Linus Ullmark: Leaves ice first

Ullmark was the first goalie to exit the ice Tuesday, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports, indicating he'll be between the home pipes versus the Devils.

Ullmark is currently tied for fifth in game played this season with 21, posting a 10-7-4 record along the way while registering a 3.00 GAA. The Sens should continue to give Ullmark a heavy workload the rest of the way, especially with the team having just one back-to-back before the Christmas break.

  • Dan Vladar G | PHI

Flyers' Dan Vladar: In goal Tuesday

Vladar will get the starting nod at home versus the Sharks on Tuesday.

Vladar was given the last two games off in favor of Samuel Ersson, so he should be plenty rested and looking to bounce back from his loss to the Penguins on Dec. 1 in which he gave up five goals on 27 shots. Overall, it's been a strong start to the year for Vladar, as he is 10-5-1 with a career-best 2.59 GAA in 16 outings.

  • Dustin Wolf G | CGY

Flames' Dustin Wolf: Hangs on for third straight win

Wolf turned aside 25 shots in Monday's 7-4 win over the Sabres.

Calgary handed Wolf a 2-0 lead in the first period, and while Buffalo kept pressing over the final 40 minutes, the 24-year-old netminder never allowed the visitors to even things up. Wolf has won three straight starts to kick off December, and through four outings this month, he's delivered a stellar 1.80 GAA and .937 save percentage.

  • Alex Lyon G | BUF

Sabres' Alex Lyon: Needed in relief Monday

Lyon stopped all four shots he faced after replacing Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to begin the third period of Monday's 7-4 loss to the Flames.

The switch had more to do with the poor play of the Sabres' defense than it did Luukkonen's performance, but Lyon did his part in giving Buffalo a chance to mount a comeback from a 5-3 deficit. Lyon has started only one of the last 12 games, falling behind Luukkonen and Colten Ellis on the depth chart, but the team continues to carry three goalies rather than risk losing one on waivers. On the season, Lyon has a 3-6-3 record in 14 outings with a 3.16 GAA and a .901 save percentage.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Gets hook in Calgary

Luukkonen gave up five goals on 22 shots before being replaced by Alex Lyon to begin the third period of Monday's 7-4 loss to the Flames.

Luukkonen didn't have much chance on any of the pucks that got past him, two of which came on Calgary power plays, but his night ended early nonetheless. The 26-year-old netminder hadn't allowed more than three goals in an outing since Oct. 25, with Monday's performance snapping a stretch of eight starts in which he'd gone 4-4-0 despite a respectable 2.40 GAA and a .904 save percentage. The Sabres continue to carry three goalies and get all three of them work, but Luukkonen may be nosing ahead in the battle for playing time despite this result.

  • Maple Leafs' Dennis Hildeby: Blanks Bolts for first career SO

Hildeby made 29 saves in Monday's 2-0 win over the Lightning.

In his 15th career NHL appearance, Hildeby recorded his first career shutout, stymying a Tampa Bay lineup that got bolstered by the returns of Nikita Kucherov (undisclosed) and Brayden Point (undisclosed) on Monday. Hildeby has gone 2-2-2 for Toronto this season in nine outings with a 2.15 GAA and a .936 save percentage, and the 24-year-old netminder will be leaned on heavily while Joseph Woll (lower body) and Anthony Stolarz (upper body) are on the shelf.

  • Lightning's Jonas Johansson: No support again Monday

Johansson stopped 22 of 23 shots in Monday's 2-0 loss to the Maple Leafs, with Toronto's final goal getting scored into an empty net.

With Andrei Vasilevskiy (undisclosed) landing on IR earlier in the day, Johansson made his third straight start and, for the second straight outing, watched the Lightning get shut out in front of him. Vasilevskiy doesn't have a timeline yet for his return, but Johansson has held down the fort well in his place, posting a 2.09 GAA and a .917 save percentage in his three December starts despite getting stuck with a record of 0-3-0. Tampa Bay is back in action Tuesday in Montreal, so Brandon Halverson could be in line to make his first NHL start of the season.
