  • Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Comes up short against Bruins

Montembeault turned aside 20 shots in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Boston.

The 29-year-old netminder shut the door in the third period to give the Habs a chance at tying the score, but his offense couldn't find an equalizer against Jeremy Swayman. Montembeault is 2-4-1 over his last eight outings with a shaky 3.80 GAA and .853 save percentage, but so far coach Martin St. Louis has stuck with him as Montreal's No. 1 in net rather than giving youngster Jakub Dobes a larger workload.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Wins third straight start

Shesterkin stopped 24 of 25 shots in Saturday's 2-1 shootout win over the Blue Jackets.

Shesterkin allowed just one power-play goal in regulation before making two crucial saves in the shootout to help the Rangers win their third straight contest. Overall, the 29-year-old goaltender has a 7-6-2 record with a 2.39 GAA and a .912 save percentage in 15 appearances this year. Saturday was his first time allowing one goal or fewer since Oct. 14, which capped a four-start stretch in which he allowed three total goals. With the Rangers playing back-to-back games in the weekend slate, Jonathan Quick will likely provide relief for Shesterkin against the Red Wings on Sunday after Shesterkin started the past four games. Shesterkin's next start will likely come Tuesday against the Golden Knights.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Win streak at five starts

Swayman stopped 26 shots in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Canadiens.

Boston came out on top in the Original Six battle, and Swayman was a big reason why. The 26-year-old netminder has won five straight starts, posting a 2.37 GAA and .923 save percentage during that stretch as he begins to live up to the big contract extension he signed right before the start of the 2024-25 season.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Falls to Oil in OT

Andersen made 19 saves in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers.

Carolina out-shot the visitors 36-23 on the night, but Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl took eight of those shots, and that proved to be the difference, as the superstar duo scored three times. Andersen has only one win in his last five starts, going 1-3-1 with a 3.49 GAA and .869 save percentage, and it may not be long before Pyotr Kochetkov begins seeing a greater share of the workload in the Hurricanes' crease.

  • Juuse Saros G | NSH

Predators' Juuse Saros: Tending twine Sunday

Saros will defend the road net in Sunday's Global Series game in Sweden against Pittsburgh, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports.

Saros stopped 16 shots in Friday's 2-1 overtime win over the Penguins, snapping his three-game (0-2-1) losing skid. He has supplied a 6-6-3 record with a 2.96 GAA and an .894 save percentage through 15 appearances this season. Pittsburgh is tied for 13th in the league with 3.22 goals per game this campaign.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Hangs on for OT win

Skinner turned aside 33 shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Hurricanes.

Edmonton jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Carolina stormed back and wound up out-shooting the visitors 36-23 on the night, as Skinner did well just to get the game to OT. The 27-year-old netminder was rewarded for his effort when Leon Draisaitl potted the winner just 19 seconds into the extra frame. Skinner has won three straight starts and has only one regulation loss in his last eight outings, going 5-1-2 over that stretch despite a 3.13 GAA and .883 save percentage.

  • Penguins' Sergei Murashov: Starting Sunday

Murashov will patrol the home crease in Sunday's Global Series matchup against Nashville in Sweden, Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports.

Murashov made 24 saves in a 3-2 loss to the Kings last Sunday in his NHL debut. He has posted a 5-2-0 record with a 1.73 GAA and a .931 save percentage through seven appearances with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season. Nashville ranks 31st in the league with 2.53 goals per game this campaign.

  • Wild's Jesper Wallstedt: Blanks Ducks for second straight SO

Wallstedt made 28 saves in Saturday's 2-0 win over Anaheim.

The young netminder appears to have completely erased a rough 2024-25 campaign from his mind. Wallstedt has recorded consecutive shutouts, and through six starts to begin the current campaign, he's 4-0-2 with a dazzling 2.10 GAA and .924 save percentage. Filip Gustavsson should be between the pipes Sunday against the Golden Knights on the second leg of a back-to-back, but the veteran's 3.08 GAA and .896 save percentage are leaving the door open for Wallstedt to push his way into a much more significant role for the Wild.

  • Petr Mrazek G | ANA

Ducks' Petr Mrazek: Outdueled in Minnesota

Mrazek stopped 28 of 29 shots in Saturday's 2-0 loss to the Wild, with Minnesota's final goal getting scored into an empty net.

A Marcus Johansson tally in the first minute of the second period proved to be the only goal either netminder allowed, as Mrazek was simply outdueled by Jesper Wallstedt. It was Mrazek's best performance of the season but also his first loss, as he's 3-1-0 in four starts with a 3.72 GAA and .887 save percentage while backing up Lukas Dostal.

  • Dustin Wolf G | CGY

Flames' Dustin Wolf: Handed shootout loss

Wolf allowed three goals on 23 shots in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Jets.

Wolf kept things close, but this was not a great follow-up to his 17-save shutout versus the Sharks on Thursday. The 24-year-old netminder has evened out a bit with a 3-3-1 record and 15 goals allowed over his last seven games, but wins will continue to be hard to find behind a low-scoring team. Wolf is at 5-10-2 on the year with a 3.01 GAA and an .896 save percentage over 17 starts. The Flames have a road back-to-back up next, with a visit to Chicago on Tuesday followed by Buffalo on Wednesday. Expect Wolf and Devin Cooley to split those starts.
