  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Crashes in Detroit

Luukkonen made 22 saves in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Red Wings.

The 26-year-old netminder managed to keep things close until the third period when Detroit broke the game open. Luukkonen wasn't really to blame for the ugly result -- three of the Wings' goals came on power plays, and the Sabres' defense gave him little help on the others. Nonetheless, it was his fifth loss in six March starts, a stretch in which he's stumbled to an .855 save percentage and seen his record on the season drop to 21-21-4.

  • Joey Daccord G | SEA

Kraken's Joey Daccord: Set to start versus Montreal

Daccord will guard the home goal versus the Canadiens on Wednesday, per Davy Jones' Locker Room.

Daccord is in a bit of a skid, going 1-4-0 with 19 goals allowed on 128 shots over his last five outings. He'll get a little bit of a break here with the Canadiens on the second half of a back-to-back. However, they are 4-1-1 with 18 goals scored over their last six contests, so they've been playing pretty well of late.

  • John Gibson G | DET

Ducks' John Gibson: Still bothered by injury

Gibson (lower body) is still battling his injury and won't suit up Wednesday versus Utah, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports.

Gibson was reportedly cleared but didn't suit up Tuesday versus the Capitals, and he's out again for a fourth straight game Wednesday. He was at practice Tuesday, so he might be available to suit up Friday versus the Predators.

  • Ville Husso G | ANA

    Ducks' Ville Husso: Facing Utah

Husso will guard the road goal versus Utah on Wednesday.

Husso went 1-5-2 with a 3.69 GAA and an .866 save percentage over nine appearances with the Red Wings earlier this season. He was traded to the Ducks in February and has bounced between the NHL and AHL a few times lately due to injury concerns for John Gibson (lower body). The 30-year-old Husso will now make his team debut in a somewhat tough matchup, as Utah will try to bolster its standing in the playoff race.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Starting Wednesday

Luukkonen will start in goal Wednesday on the road versus the Red Wings, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.

Luukkonen put an end to his four-game point streak with a 32-save performance in a 3-2 win over the Oilers on Monday. The 26-year-old will now try to take his success on the road against the Red Wings, who are averaging 2.80 goals per game. However, they have the NHL's third-best power play, converting at a 28.2 percent rate.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: In goal again Wednesday

Lankinen will protect the road goal versus the Flames on Wednesday, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 reports.

Lankinen took a second consecutive loss in Tuesday's 4-2 defeat against the Canadiens. However, the Canucks are trying to keep pace in the playoff race, and Lankinen gives them a better chance to win than Arturs Silovs. The 29-year-old Lankinen is 3-4-0 with a 2.59 GAA and a .901 save percentage over his last seven outings, and he has a favorable matchup against the Flames' pedestrian offense.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Second straight defeat

Lankinen stopped 23 of 26 shots in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Canadiens. The fourth goal came on an empty-netter with 17 seconds left in the game.

Lankinen was beaten twice in the first period and once more in the second, and now he's dropped three of his last five starts, posting a 2.85 GAA and an .884 save percentage in that stretch. The Canucks play again Wednesday at Calgary, so Lankinen could get the night off in the second leg of a back-to-back set. If that's the case, then Arturs Silovs would likely defend the Canucks' crease.

  • Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Gives up two goals Tuesday

Montembeault stopped 29 of 31 shots in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Canucks.

Montembeault hasn't lost in regulation in any of his past six starts, going 5-0-1 with a 2.11 GAA and an excellent .924 save percentage over that span. He's not allowed more than three goals in any appearance over that stretch, but since the Canadiens are set to take on the Kraken on Wednesday in the second leg of a back-to-back set, the 28-year-old will receive the night off with Jakub Dobes set to start.

  • Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Slated to start Wednesday

Vejmelka is expected to start at home against Anaheim on Wednesday, according to Cole Bagley of KSL Sports.

Vejmelka is gearing up for his eighth straight start after going 4-1-2 with a 2.11 GAA and a .914 save percentage over his previous seven outings. The 28-year-old netminder has a 17-16-6 record, 2.49 GAA and .909 save percentage across 41 appearances overall in 2024-25. Anaheim ranks 29th in goals per game with 2.66.

  • Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Gets back to winning ways

Hellebuyck stopped 21 of 22 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Rangers.

Hellebuyck bounced back from the 4-2 loss to Carolina on Sunday and limited the Rangers to just one goal, courtesy of Mika Zibanejad midway through the first period. The star netminder has won just twice over his last five starts, but his stats have been excellent over that stretch, going 2-2-1 with a 1.79 GAA and a .932 save percentage after conceding just nine goals on 132 shots faced.
