Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Poor showing versus Blues

Dostal allowed three goals on 21 shots in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Blues. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.

Dostal wasn't very sharp in this outing, but the Ducks nearly bailed him out in the end. They scored twice in the final 3:02 of the game, and the potential equalizer crossed the line just after time ran out in the third period. Dostal comes away with his fourth loss in six outings (2-3-1), and he's now 18-16-5 with a 2.88 GAA and a .910 save percentage over 39 appearances. John Gibson (lower body) is considered day-to-day, and Dostal is likely to handle a starter's workload in his absence. The Ducks' next game is at home Sunday versus the Islanders.

  • Blues' Jordan Binnington: Reaches 20-win mark

Binnington stopped 20 of 23 shots in Friday's 4-3 win over the Ducks.

The Ducks made things interesting with a couple of late goals, but their chance at the tying tally went over the line just after time expired. Binnington was able to escape with his sixth win in his last seven outings, which got him to the 20-win mark for the season. He's now 20-20-4 with a 2.79 GAA and an .899 save percentage across 45 appearances. This is the fifth time in seven campaigns he's earned at least 20 wins, and he continues to see a large volume of starts for the Blues, which will keep him in the mix in fantasy despite mediocre ratios. He'll likely get some rest Saturday as the Blues face the Kings for the third time in eight days -- look for Joel Hofer to make that start.

  • Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Narrow loss to Canucks

Gustavsson stopped 17 of 19 shots in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Canucks. The third goal was an empty-netter.

Gustavsson couldn't match Kevin Lankinen's performance between the pipes. The Canucks got a late goal from Kiefer Sherwood to make the difference, leaving Gustavsson with his third loss in his last five starts. The Swedish netminder is now 24-14-3 with a 2.60 GAA and a .914 save percentage through 42 starts this season. The Wild return home to begin a seven-game homestand, which begins Sunday versus the Penguins. This was just the fourth time Gustavsson has started four or more games in a row, and given the opponent, it's possible Marc-Andre Fleury is granted one more start against his longtime team for Sunday's matinee matchup.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Stands tall in win

Lankinen stopped 37 of 38 shots in Friday's 3-1 win over the Wild.

Lankinen has won four of his last six outings, and this is the fifth time in that span he's allowed two or fewer goals. His shutout bid was spoiled by Brock Faber's power-play tally, but Lankinen held off the Wild's relentless attack and got just enough goal support late in the third period to claim the win. He's now 22-10-7 with a 2.52 GAA and a .906 save percentage over 39 outings this season. The 29-year-old netminder seems likely to get the nod for a challenging matchup versus the Stars on Sunday.

  • Golden Knights' Ilya Samsonov: Posts shutout over Penguins

Samsonov recorded a 22-save shutout in Friday's 4-0 win over the Penguins.

Samsonov's last win was a struggle, as he gave up five goals on 22 shots to the Blackhawks. He then backed up Adin Hill for two games before returning to the crease in dominant fashion Friday. Samsonov is up to two shutouts this season and 15 in his career after this performance. He improved to 15-8-2 with a 2.80 GAA and an .891 save percentage across 25 appearances. The Golden Knights have largely maintained balance between their netminders, though Hill is more likely than Samsonov to collect consecutive starts when both are healthy.

  • Penguins' Alex Nedeljkovic: On wrong side of shutout

Nedeljkovic allowed four goals on 27 shots in Friday's 4-0 loss to the Golden Knights.

Nedeljkovic took his fifth loss in a row, though this was one was due to a lack of goal support rather than just his own poor performance. The 29-year-old is down to 12-14-5 with a 3.17 GAA and an .891 save percentage through 33 outings this season. The Penguins' three-game road trip ends Sunday in Minnesota, which is still likely to be a challenging matchup for Nedeljkovic should he get the start.

  • Blues' Jordan Binnington: Starting against Ducks

Binnington will protect the road goal versus the Ducks on Friday, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports.

Instead of playing the matchups, head coach Jim Montgomery will have Binnington start the first half of a back-to-back, lining up Joel Hofer to start Saturday against the Kings. The 31-year-old Binnington is 4-1-0 with nine goals allowed and a .923 save percentage over his last five games, which includes two wins over the Kings. The Ducks are a fairly weak offense, but they could present a bit of a challenge anyway, as they've scored 22 goals over their last six games, though they've won just two of them.

  • Penguins' Alex Nedeljkovic: Starting against Vegas

Nedeljkovic will guard the road goal versus the Golden Knights on Friday, Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports.

Nedeljkovic will look to end his four-game losing streak, a span in which he's made five appearances and allowed a total of 18 goals. The Golden Knights have won five of their last six games, and they've scored 23 goals in that span, so this is not a good matchup for fantasy managers to have Nedeljkovic active.

  • Cam Talbot G | DET

Red Wings' Cam Talbot: Slated to start Friday

Talbot is expected to start on the road against Washington on Friday.

Talbot is 17-13-3 with a 2.92 GAA and a .902 save percentage in 35 appearances in 2024-25. He'll try to get back into the win column after dropping his past two starts while allowing eight goals on 49 shots (.837 save percentage). Washington ranks second in the league in goals per game with 3.58.

  • Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Tending twine on road

Hellebuyck will guard the road goal versus the Devils on Friday, Bill Spaulding of MSG Network reports.

Hellebuyck will get the second half of a back-to-back after Eric Comrie defeated the Flyers on Thursday in a 4-1 win. Hellebuyck is 0-1-1 with four goals allowed on 61 shots (.931 save percentage) over his last two games. The 31-year-old will catch a break, as the Devils are without Jack Hughes (shoulder) and Dougie Hamilton (lower body), weakening the top end of their lineup.
