McIlrath was scratched for the fifth game in a row in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Bruins.

McIlrath has played just once since the Olympic break. The Capitals' trade of John Carlson to Anaheim didn't open the door for McIlrath, especially after a separate deal with San Jose brought in Timothy Liljegren. For now, McIlrath, Liljegren and Declan Chisholm continue to compete for one spot in the lineup, and that battle could get tougher if Cole Hutson signs his entry-level deal coming out of Boston University.

Roy scored a goal, added two hits and blocked two shots in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Bruins.

Roy ended a 45-game goal drought and also earned his first point since Feb. 2 versus the Islanders. The 31-year-old defenseman is playing in a top-four role, but he is mostly in that spot for his shutdown skills. He has two goals, 16 points, 83 shots on net, 99 hits, 124 blocked shots and a plus-12 rating over 65 outings this season.

Sandin scored a goal on four shots, added an assist, blocked four shots and went plus-2 in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Bruins.

Sandin snapped a four-game point drought with the effort. The 26-year-old has been seeing steady top-four minutes in the absence of John Carlson (lower body), who was traded to the Ducks prior to the March 6 deadline. That larger role hasn't translated to a boost in offense for Sandin, but he's in a good spot. He has four goals, 20 helpers, 79 shots on net, 103 blocked shots, 74 hits and a plus-9 rating over 61 appearances this season.

Vejmelka is expected to start at home against Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Vejmelka has a 30-17-3 record, 2.69 GAA and .897 save percentage in 51 outings in 2025-26. He's 0-1-1 with a 3.88 GAA and an .849 save percentage across his past two appearances. Perhaps he'll have better luck against Pittsburgh. The Penguins are 1-3-2 across their past six games and are currently without Sidney Crosby (lower body) and Evgeni Malkin (suspension).

Chernyshov is being evaluated for an upper-body injury and will not finish Saturday's game versus the Canadiens, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.

Chernyshov was injured on his first shift, taking a high hit from Mike Matheson. Chernyshov had trouble finding his balance leaving the ice, so it's no surprise he is undergoing further testing. If he can't play Sunday in Ottawa, Philipp Kurashev or Ryan Reaves are most likely to get into the lineup.

Akhtyamov recorded a 26-save shutout in AHL Toronto's 3-0 win over Rochester on Saturday.

Akhtyamov has numbers roughly in line with what he did last year as an AHL rookie, but this was his first shutout of the campaign. He's added an 18-10-4 record with a 2.86 GAA and a .904 save percentage over 32 appearances. He won't get to the NHL as long as Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz are healthy to close out the campaign.

Scheifele picked up two assists in Saturday's 3-1 win over Colorado.

Both helpers came in the second period on goals by Kyle Connor and Alex Iafallo, as the Jets broke open a scoreless tie. Scheifele has four multi-point performances in his last six games, and with his first assist Saturday, he reached 80 points on the season for the fourth time in his career.

Connor scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 3-1 win over Colorado.

The 29-year-old winger opened the scoring early in the second period, snapping a shot past Mackenzie Blackwood from the high slot. It was Connor's 30th goal of the campaign, the eighth time in his career he's reached that mark, and in the process, he set a new franchise record for 30-goal regular seasons. Over his last 14 games, Connor has racked up seven goals and 16 points.

Gibson is expected to start on the road against Dallas on Saturday.

Gibson has a 24-15-2 record, 2.57 GAA and .906 save percentage in 43 outings in 2025-26. He's gone 0-2-0 while allowing seven goals on 56 shots (.875 save percentage) across his past two appearances. It'll be difficult for him to reverse his recent struggles against Dallas. The Stars are 13-0-1 while averaging 4.21 goals per game across their past 14 matches.

Hellebuyck made 28 saves in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Avalanche.

The three-time Vezina winner nearly came away with his first shutout of the season, but Martin Necas snapped a one-timer past him inside the final two minutes of the third period with Colorado's net empty. Hellebuyck has made eight straight starts since the Olympic break as the Jets try to climb back into playoff contention, going 4-2-2 over that span with a .905 save percentage.
